I am considering the AR's Torq Thrust II's on my 69 Camaro. Mostly what I see in the mags are cars with the 17" wheels. I am not crazy about the "wagon wheel" look. I want to keep a low profile tire to maintane about 26" overall dia.
Anyone out there using a 16" wheel?
Pros/Cons ?
Thanks,
Guy

i have 16"x8" IROC wheels on my nova, with 26" tall tires, and i really don't have any problems that aren't related to a worn out suspension- it chews up tires in a few thousand miles, but it did that when i had 15's on it. i think it looks good, and it definitely handles better. those TT2's look good on anything.

I am running TT2 wheels that are 16'' on my '68 Camaro. They look very nice. The car sits a little high at present (long story involving stock replacement springs). Have a look.

Boodlefoof & CarlC, excellent job on two "BAD 2 DA" BONE" Camaros. All show & go. I can tell just by the pics that you both have a lot of blood sweat and tears tied up in your rides, not to mention dollars. They both look cherry.

thanks

Hopefully someday... someday... mine will be nice enough for a magazine article. Carl of course has already reached that milestone.

Thanks guy's, great looking rides!! I have a 69 ,love the 67/68's, gotta get one of them, too. CarlC, my plans are to paint mine red W/black Z stripes. It's silver w/black stripe and ain't bad looking at all, but RED, WOW!
Thanks again for the info and pics, I think you have helped me make up my mind, 16x7 fr and 16x8 rr.
Later,
Guy

Sounds like you made your decision, but here's my post from a few months back with pics and specs of my 16" TT II's: http://www.camaros.net/forum/Forum8/HTML/000519.html

- '91 Chevy SScort, silver, auto, 4-dr hatchback, looks strikingly similar to a Ford Escort

Hey Boodle,

Nice site and "tall" car. I would like it, even if it was short!

BTW, He,He!!, I can see that my Bullitt wheels are gonna be outta place here!! LOL's. pdq67

As always, the others are NICE, TOOO!!!

No e in camaro- Are your rims 16x8 all the way around? I'm just curious because I would like to go 16x8 inches wide front and rear but I haven't seen anyone that has done that yet. Don't know why but I just haven't.
Thanks alot,
Donnie

Hey CarlC - are those AR Torque Thrust D's? All the ones I have seen in the catalogues have darker grey center spokes. If my fading memory serves me right, yours are more correct to what was used 20 years ago.

Thanks.

1968camaro123, my fronts are 16x7s I wouldn't do 8" wheels in front if you like to make U-turns. You have to get creative and get the backspacing *just right* to make 8" wheels work in front, I think. Good luck!

No e in camaro- Thanks alot, I guess I'll just buy the 7 inch wides for the front unless someone has the right backspacing and could tell me what it is.
Donnie

I am running 16x8 on all four corners on my 69...I have no problems running 245 50 r 16 front and 255 60 r 16 on back...It is a very tight fit however and the back weels needed some minor work to the lip on the wheel well opening.I did not drive it much with this combo before I took the whole car apart but I did drive it for a month with no interferance any place. I dont remember my backspace right off hand but if you would like to have it just let me know. Good luck,
AJ

AJ- don't mean to be a pain in the @$$ but do you think that when you get a chance you could check on that backspacing? Also, you said that you took the car apart, did you rebuild your suspesion? If ya did, did you use hotchkis or some other non-stock coils and leafs or just the stock ride height?
Thanks,
Donnie

Oh, just one more question, How much bigger are the wheelwells on a 69 than a 68?
Thanks,
Donnie

Donnie,
my rims are ARE part # 5056861 16x 8 5- 4.75 and 4" back spacing. Yes I did use aftermarket parts in the front. hotchkis springs, sway bar, stock lower A arms Global west upper A arms, del-a-lum bushings, AGR steering box, etc. etc. etc. Oh and I have baer 13inch brakes up front..(very tight fit!!) I am not sure of the diff. in wheel wells in a 68 and 69 but I am sure the 68 is smaller, maybe David P. would know. good luck and keep us posted...Let me know if I can help more,
Tony

Tony, Thanks alot, I'm going to eventually be doing most of those suspension mods too! How much of a difference did it make from stock? My car understeers SO bad! I've gotta do something and I figured that wheels and tires would help the most and be the best start for traction.(not to mention good looks). My only other question(for now,LOL) is, MarkM was saying that if I was to use 16x8's on the front that I should go with 4.5 inch backspacing, granted he does have a 68 like me. Do you think that you're fronts would've fit better or you would've been able to fit slightly larger tires if your rims were 4.5 instead of 4.75? Just curious.
Thanks again,
Donnie

I am pretty sure he didn't mean 4.75'' backspacing, but rather was referring to the bolt pattern, 5x4.75 Correct me if I am wrong.
