I have '69 Z28 that has been sitting for a few months. I started warming it up for the last few weeks and it was running great. I took it to the station and filled it with premium fuel. After a few miles the car will not idle at a stand still. It still runs great while giving it gas but will die when I let off. Does this sound like I got something in the fuel filter? Tks for your help..

Same thing happened to me after I pulled my 68' out of cold storage, ran like a champ going down the road but the second I hit a stop light it would get lopey and die. I gave it a tune up and the idling perked up right away.

A quick old school side of the road fix
2nd time today
pull off the air cleaner, take the rpms up, hand over the carb, pull big vaccuum till almost stalls , suddenly pull your handoff . repeat 3 or 4 times

That doesnt 'fix'
check the float levels.. if high most proberly crap in the float level valves...remove clean re set float levels.

Steptoe has your answer. I do the same thing when my carb starts to act up. Works like champ. 3 to 4000 rpm, close the choke cover, engine will cut out, open the choke before it stalls, let it idle. Do that a few times and you should be good to go.

Good luck
Mike
