We recently sold our house and my lift. Will be building a new garage with a 12 ' ceiling.
Looking to get a new lift thats reasonable in price. The one I had was a Perfect Park 7000, but it cost $3250 10 years ago. Any suggestions on brand and price?

PS My old lift was American made! Thanks

Did you look in the tool section of this forum? A little while back there was a thread on lifts. Mine is a Hydra Lift, don't know if they are still in business, but it was made in Canada and is as old as hell. Still works great. I got it used from a shop that was upgrading. You might be able to get a good deal on a used one from one of the many shops that are closing every day. Danbar is a pretty good lift too. I suggest a two post though. You can do way more work with a two post clear floor lift.

I have a Dannmar 7000# 4 post.

I use it a lot and I have it for over 6 years. Never had an issue with it since day one. Had it delivered for under $2k and put it together with a few guys for beer and pizza.

I'm with John on this one! Had mine nearly 10 years without a hiccup for $1800 delivered...assembled it myself with the aid of the floor jack. Drank the beer myself! :hurray:

Sorry Dannmar is what I meant to say.

The Dannmar looks good, but I think having the cables inside the columns is better, like I had with Perfect Park. Many lifts to choose from !

Make sure you get a USA made one, the China ones are not as safe as the "latches" that have broke off due to poor welds and cheap steel hence the cheap price, not a product you want to go for based on price. Look around for a used one a x2 on a 2 post.

What height requirement do you need in the garage? I can't see it anywhere on the advertisement.

Could you post a link documenting these failures. I have looked and found no such failures. Only incident I found was due to operator error.

Thanks,
Don

X2. I see this general statement posted often yet no documented failures.

You have the cables on all 4 corners and spring loaded safety latches.

If a cable broke the latches keep the lift from dropping. And if a latch broke the cables will still hold it up.

My ceiling clear is about 11' and I have 6' clear under the Ramos with a 1st Gen on the lift.

Post no. 22 pretty much sums it up:

Rotary's are made in the USA and most of them made from 1928 on are still in use if the station is still there :)

There may not be any difference between US made and off shore made units that is true, I just feel better keeping my money here in the USA and keeping some hard working American employed. Every little bit you can do makes us all stronger. JMHO

No argument but let's keep it to facts and not internet legends. Also keep in mind the folks who import, unload, ship, distribute, sell, install and service those offshore lifts are all Americans so not all the money goes offshore.

I buy American when I can but I own three lifts and the cost delta to go all American was just too large.

Hey Karl couple of questions. Is it the same model as John's? How high is your ceiling in the garage, can you fit your Camaro under it?
It's a D-7...7000 lb lift and I believe it's the same as John's. The only thing I would do differently is...add 240V motor on the power supply to increase speed in raising and lowering, plus get the aluminum ramps; damn steel one's are heavy to tote around...both are available options. My ceiling is 10 ft...just high enough to put the Vette on top and back the Camaro beneath it because of the antenna...looks awkward, but it works. I have a rolling seat from Sears with tool tray which allows me to roll under the car and work while sitting. Can't get it high enough to stand due to the current ceiling height, but, I don't care...I like sittin' on my butt to work!

This American made lift is not much more.
