Anybody know if the latest issue of "Chevy Power" list's pic's and spec's of the new LS1 motor like it has shown for the older motor??

And are there cast-iron LS1 heads and how much are they??

I was just noticing E-brock's new carb. intake for this motor and was wondering about putting a set of LS1 heads on the old motor now that there is a carb. intake available just out of curiousity ...........

no, there aren't any cast iron heads available, and no, you can't put LS1 heads on an old small block- if i interpreted your question correctly. totally different beast.

Nova,

In all sincerity if guy's can put SB heads on regular old Chevy six-bangers then somebody, surely will put LS1 heads on an original cast-iron SB block!!!

And a father/son team have even made a 16 cylinder SB too out of a pair of cast-iron blocks!!!

i have an LS1 torn apart out in my shop, and believe me when i say they are a totally different beast. i think the old inline 6 cylinders have a similar head bolt pattern to a small block, so that would make it easier to adapt modified small block heads for that application. the LS1 head bolt pattern looks more like a small block Ford than a small block Chevy.
altho, the LS1 does have the same bore spacing as a regular small block, and uses the same roller lifters, so i guess if someone had the $$$ and skills, i guess anything could be done.
