why did my valve stem flatten out

pulled the motor today and found this

It has a solid roller and I've kept the valve adjusted but found this on 1 valve

Is it the valve stem or a lash cap?

its the valve stem and its mushroomed out, the rest of them are perfect

Does the roller on the rocker tip spin freely?

yes, it seems to be fine

Thats typically a sign of a lobe going flat or excessive valve lash. It could just be a marginal quality valve too.

took it to the machine shop, the guy said he thinks the valve wasn't any good, it wasn't hardened correctly
