Some of you guys know I am all about driving classic cars and not really a fan of sitting in a parking lot/fairgrounds all day. I started a group called Drive Your Junk Car Cruises. Basically I/we set up cruises, the distance varies and the type of destination varies as well. This last cruise Drive Your Junk hooked up with Mid Peninsula Muscle Car Club and we worked together to set up a cruise down the California coast (from Pacifica to Santa Cruz) and then meeting again in San Mateo to cruise El Camino Real, which used to be one of the most popular cruise spots in the whole Bay Area. The turnout was insane. Well here are plenty of pictures if you are interested. There is something here for everyone huge variety of cars. If you live in Northern California please join us, it's free and always fun.

Thanks for posting Royce. I couldn't justify the gas expense at this time. I should be back for future cruises.

No problem, I understand fuel isn't cheap.

Here is a message that one of the younger cruisers sent in to Drive Your Junk

"That cruise 2 days ago, was something u wud see out of a movie, more classics then there were modern cars on el camino. If it was like that back in the 80s i was born in the wrong generation. Please setup more. That was aaaaamazing, awesome job!"

This in my opinion is what it's all about. Car shows are cool but, not the same as seeing the cars rolling and hearing them. We take the car show on the road. People don't have to pay to see them.

We used to do these cruises with the vette club. One thing though if you are going to keep together you have to realize there is a whiplash affect. The guys in front are doing 55 and to keep up you have to do 75 at the rear of the column in a 30 car cruise.
Lunches were always fun and attracted a crowd. Some not too versed in the "Do not touch code" Hard to concentrate on eating when you are looking out the window all the time. Still more fun than sitting in a parking lot. One cruise ended at one of the member's Winery. That is another story!

Such a great idea Royce, I wish I was closer to you guys. My car runs on pump gas now but that would be a pretty long cruise for me...;)

This is my idea of car culture, I agree car shows are fine but not for me, this is the only way to go, get out and use them! I'm getting to the point I would rather do this with mine than race it, although racing is a lot of fun.

Those are great pictures, dang the Buick is looking good! I really like the cross section of cars you are getting, old classics to muscle cars to imports to low riders. Some that really stand out to me because they are different are the 70's Cadillac low riders and that 56 gasser those are a dying breed. My cousin is actually building a 55 gasser right now. Very cool to see all those cars out getting used.

Thanks for posting Royce!

We have had a wide variety of cars and people on the cruises. You meet some interesting people and hearing the story about their cars is cool too.

That was a long cruise/day 14 hours for me all said and done but, I would do it again this weekend if I could. It was really a lot of fun. I put 270 miles on the Buick that day. I could have cut that down but, I went on the little side tour through the mountains (that's where Alice's Resturaunt is located). Well worth it and the Buick handles pretty good for such skinny front tires.

Looks like a great time, Royce. I agree that parking in a field all day isn't the best way to enjoy a car. Rolling shows are the best.

Yippee! Ice cream for dessert!

Hey, no one said we were going to share it...

LOL, well at least you didn't share this one: http://www.megahosted.com/gallery/album827/El_Camino_Real_Cruise_2014_060

Oh and for the record the ice cream and pie wasn't that great. I was impressed when she brought it out as you could see.

WOW that looks like it was a blast. Love the pics in side mirrors looking back. We have some like that from Billing MT and Bear Tooth Pass run we made years ago.
Great job Royce...sad your little Buick broke down in that intersection, ran out of gas?

Yes it was a blast.

No I didn't break down, this car has been dead reliable. I just ran out of gas because I didn't listen to my wife for the last 50 miles that I was on empty saying "don't you think we should stop for gas" ran out 200ft from the gas station after taking a wrong turn on the way to the station. First and last time that will happen. Now I know for sure my cell holds exactly 18.2 gallons :D just wanted to confirm that, lol
