Hello, im about to pull my 350 outa my 68 and i was wondering what do you guys think is a great paint to coat it with? i would like it to last a long time and to stay lookin as clean as possible. I have some black PoR-15 but im not sure if you can use that on engine parts or not. Any info would be apreciated thank you!

I like the good old VHT brand engine paint. Stores like NAPA usually keep a pretty good selection of colors in stock.
The key to making it look good is surface prep - making sure the engine is rust/grease free and using lots of thin coats will leave it looking nice. The key to making it last is making sure you don't have any leaks . . .
PS. the VHT can be used with a small paint brush to touch up if necessary. I'm not familiar with the POR products.

I used Imron, polyurethane paint. Very durable, glossy, and easy to keep clean. But, as Eric suggests, surfaces needs to be grease/rust free. Remove the flashing before painting.

I agree with Everett, remove the extra casting flash with a small grinder before painting, it'll really clean up the engine appearance. I use VHT like Eric and I use Glyptal inside the block. I always use a lot of MEK to clean the motor before painting. Don't work with MEK unless you are outdoors and wear latex gloves, change them fequently, don't use Nitrile gloves they are only good for 6 minutes of protection with MEK. Also wear a good respirator.

The POR 15 is great as well. Although when using the engine paint, you must first coat the block/heads with the rust paint. It works well internally in the block, just don't get any into the lifter bores as it can be difficult to remove.
