This is an original oil gauge fitting right?

It seems to be looks like metal line pic is not that clear. I noticed a slice coupling which indicates the line has been repaired at some point. It,s best to run a one piece line with two connections at the block and the gauge. I prefer metal line over the nylon one make sure which ever you use has a grommet where it goes through the firewall. Alex

I'm sure the compression fitting further up the line is a repair. It's the fitting set up attached to the block I'm wondering about. I'm going with a single metal line. I hate the idea of a flimsy plastic line going into the back of my console.

I do not know the person selling this nor am I trying to advertise. Just did a quick search and found it.

Oil Line Elbow

Here is my elbow. Kinda hard to see in the pic but it is the same as the one above.

So much for that... That explains why I couldn't find a picture of one. I don't have access to my AIM right now so I couldn't look it up. Thanks for the link.

Yes that is a factory hook up at the block SGT.Alex:D
Are you saying mine also looks factory? Were there two different styles? The one cook_dw posted is angled and looks a little different. I'm going to check out my AIM at home also, but in the mean time I was just thinking about it... Thanks.

Thanks Darrell! That would have been a bear to find. I would have been looking all over the engine pages etc...

I appreciate all the comments guys. I was just looking to find out if the fitting I had currently in my block was the same one it was shipped with back in 69. It's not angled, so it doesn't look like it.

I've never seen that galvanized angle bracket before. Where is it used?
Here's an original angle fitting in need of a polishing. Note the scrapes and scratches. I thought a open end wrench was needed to get it out, thus the dings. (circa 1973 or so) Nope, no need. A standard socket fits perfectly.

Oh, the "flimsy" plastic line is really black nylon. It's as good as new after 45 years. I couldn't even say that about me.

Thanks for those pictures Fred. It looks like the other end of my line had a couple of the original pieces at least. I'm not sure of the reason for it, but there at least a part of it was. I'll have to look around. I might still have the angled block too.

That bracket attaches to the last exhaust manifold bolt closest to the firewall and the line runs through the U shape in the bracket to support it. Its #8 in the AIM diagram above

Thank You Donny. Well I'll be damn. We must have "misplaced" it back in 69. I was installing my Mickey Thompson Super Scavengers at my favorite local gas station. The car was on the rack and it all had to be done on a two week old car in a matter of hours because everyone was working including the gas station. Even that ugly A.I.R. system had to be removed. A little square bracket must have been tossed along with all the ugly stuff (A.I.R. and manifolds) while more important stuff was done, like figuring out how to mount the trans lock lever past the huge collector. And it was all worth it. What a great sound.
