I have the original options sheet for my 84 Z28. It states that the axle ratio is 3.73. I can only get 1 wheel to leave a strip. I had figured that for a sports car it would have either full posi or limited slip. Is there something wrong with this rear end? Or did I happen to get a non posi or limited slip rear end.

There should be a white decal in the console with a bunch of RPO codes on it. They will be in alphabetical order and all will be 3 digits. Look at the codes that start with a G. These are the rear end codes. The code for limited slip or "posi" is G80. If there is no G80 there is no posi.

you can jack the *** end up turn the wheel if the other doesnt spin its not a posi , but you can buy a posi unit for yuor gear , 3 or 400 bucks and they usually charge around 150 to do the work not unless u can do it , later

LOW BUCK POSI: If you can't afford posi, try adding an air bag to the right rear spring. You'll have to play with the pressure a little. When it is set correctly, it will help to equalize the load between both wheels. It definitly isn't as good as posi but is better than an open rearend. Oh my.

Thanks for all the help. I will check it out this weekend. It's in storage right now but I'm taking it out within the next 2 weeks and I have to check a few things before I do.
