Thanks Rob! The biggest local car show in my town is about to happen and it's another year my car is not parked on the grass. Funny how every year at the show I think to myself "There is no reason next year my car should not be back on the road!"

We'll I made a little progress this week: took the driveline Keisler made when I bought the trans from them and had the local driveline shop replace the 1310 rear u-joint with a 1350.

New AAW harnesses going in...

Got a little more work in.

Starter is in...

Brake master cylinder and p. valve are in...

I started to put in the hard brake lines and realized they weren't the correct ones so those are in the mail to swap out.

I don't remember how many trips to the auto parts store I made looking for the proper fittings and such for the Wilwood master. After it was all done, I went with the DSE unit and love it and glad I did. Just wish I went with it to begin with!! :) Love the Wilwood brakes, but the master wasn't working for me. I hit the brakes now and go through the windshield! Can you back off the pressure? l:)

I'm not sure yet but I think the only way to back off the pressure with these is to run a bigger bore m/c. We're you using a 7/8" m/c? Who knows I might end up doing the same thing as you!

Hope everyone had good Christmas and holidays this winter. We have had hardly any rain this winter so I should have worked a lot more on the cars lately but it seems like our new old house constantly needs work, the yards need landscaping etc...I just need to hit it hard on the Camaro because she is so close!

I got her as a non running shell when I was 15, got her running in high school auto shop. Drove her for through the rest of High School then took the car back off the road when I was 20. So about four years of fun gave me a lifetime of memories. It has been off the road for the past 14 years!!! That kills me. I found out last year that the owner of a Hot Rod shop I sued to work at and who helped me build the short block of the 540 now has ALS.
I need to finish the car. To give myself a deadline I went to register for our biggest local car show in town that we go to every year. But this year will be the first time after twelve years running that the show will be no more.

Got started on the original console...

Original dash bezel cleaned up...

I know that the paint around the shifter opening is not correct. I am waiting to decide what to do about a shifter plate that will allow room for the 6-speed shift pattern.

Original console gauge cluster picked up on eBay...

Cluster housing cleaned up, only a couple minor pits in the chrome...

Replacing all the gauges except the clock...

3" Flowmaster exhaust...

Collectors on the back of the individual tube headers...

Brake lines are moving along as well, the headache is around the master cylinder.

Original review glass has looked like this since I was in high school twenty years ago.

But thanks to this website you can learn that you can get replacement glass through the Corvette restoration site Paragon. My wife was a little unnerved when a "Corvette Parts" box arrived. (She has found out about more than one car AFTER I bought it.)

I'd much rather go through the difficulty of tracking down and replacing the glass than take the easy route of replacing the whole mirror assembly and ending up with a made in China mirror housing.

Glass is in, no cracks...

Nice work. Keep it up!
looking good!!

Thank you very much you guys. It gets frustrating seeing brand new parts rusting before you even drive the car again. The water table gets pretty high here and as much as we need the rain right now in California, I can't wait to build a shop that will keep moisture out more than this one.

Some various brackets picked up from the powder coaters...
(Except for the parking brake mechanism. Thats still painted and Ill keep it in paint because of so many moving parts.)

The other really frustrating thing...when you can't find a part you KNOW you have. I have torn so many rooms apart looking for the original door for the console. I know I have seen it somewhere within this past year. I'd like to finish the console and thats a part I need to find.

Speaking of consoles...have any of you guys used or seen someone use a stock '67 console with a 6-speed?
The console fits around the shifter no problem. But with the shift plate installed the shift lever hits the shift plate when moving to gears 5 and 6. I haven't seen any plates made for the 67 consoles to accommodate the 6-speed shift pattern, and modifying the chromed pot metal will be interesting.

The valve covers have breathers now. A friend of mine who has welds much better looking than mine helped me out. I got the baffled tubes from summit and one will serve as the oil fill as well.

See, his welds on aluminum don't look globs of snot holding two pieces of metal together!

Thank you very much you guys. Im missing out on my local car shows this year and I haven't been able to chat with many local car guys so its nice to be able to do it here.
I have been working a lot...just not as much on Nicole as I'd like. House, yard, family, work have all been crazy lately it feels. I've hammered away on the wife's Scout lately because I would love to see her cruising this summer. But I really want the Camaro back on the road finally this summer. I made some recent progress and REALLY want to keep moving a long because its starting to feel close.

I ran the electrical and built a compressor shed and bead blast shed. Its so nice to have those things back again.

New park brake line compared to the old one. I have to say I'm really happy with the quality of it.

Console is flocked and just about ready to go in.
