I have a 1983 Camaro that I have recently been working on it runs but I have come into a problem that I need some help with big time. I have rebuilt the trans, carb, head, and radiator (New). Well everything was fine until I noticed that a cylinder is not firing and the cam is all out of wack which it either needs to be replaced or I need to get a new engine. I am looking for the cheapest thing to do to fix this car. It runs now but it is not running at it's best. The engine is a V8 305 5.0L engine I garuntee this is also not the cars original motor. Someone please help me! If you know where i can get a new cam or I can get a new or rebuilt engine at a good price e-mail me or reply please. Darkevil5886@hotmail.com

Cam... If you have to have one, then look at Summits, inhouse Performer grind and lifters for not much money!! It is the 204/214 grind AND should do you very well, imho... Otherwise look at a Crane 266/210 cam. It is a good one for smaller motors..

Engine, about as good a deal that is around is the GM Goodwrench 350 if you can use it! Something like $1150 to $1250 or so plus freight!

Otherwise just keep searching here b/c there is a bunch of info. on crate engines AND short blocks if you want to take the time to look.

What do you mean when you say "out of whack"? Your solution will depend on what exactly is wrong.

If you have a dead cylinder are you sure its due to the cam? If so, it sounds like you would have a flat cam lobe . . . if that's the case bits of metal are coursing through your engine's veins and the longer you drive it that way the more damage you'll do.
