One other thing i found was at autozone. One of the companys that make replacement headlight sell a 7" round light called a cool blue. I've seen these and there brighter than stock and have the white/blue tint to them. They were $12.00 or $14.00 ea here in Ca. That kit your looking ay is NOT Xenon or HID. If it was i would be around a grand if they even made one. The kit on Ebay uses 7" round lights with replaceable bulbs. The bulds look like the bulbs from APC, Sylvania and anyone else that imports them from overseas. As far as fitting they should fit with no problems as far as i know. Try your local pep boys or autozone or what ever you have and ask them about the Sylvania cool blue lights. Worst case if they don't fit you can return them unlike Ebay

Good luck...let me know how it goes.

One thing to note is that usually lights that have a higher wattage output spec'd at the same input, such as 55/110 meaning works in 55watt sockets but puts out a 110 simulated look usually has a greatly decreased rated lifespan, usually 1 to 2 or 1 to 3.

On the other hand, a real hid kit would give you a greatly increased life span on bulbs.

The ones I mentioned on the last post by Bret (Search for www.sportscar-parts.com and go to the lighting section, click on replacement lamps for older cars and take a look at the 7" Diamondback head lamps w/tri-bar. They cost $86. each and I think they will look great in my blue 68) are already installed in my 68. Just needed to modify the headlamp base by opening the center hole around 1/4". They have 55/60 Halogen and are way much brighter than standard ones. I installed them using two relays in case I want to increase the wattage.

Check out this site I found it to be informative. Check out the tech section it tells how to wire relays.

Do they use H4s?

Yes, they have replaceable H-4 Halogen bulbs included. If you don't like the 3-bar design, they can be ordered without it.

Clark, don't know if your question is directed to me but I'll answer it anyway. The ones I ordered from www.sportscar-parts.com are part no."CWC-7007" with the tri-bar option and 55/60 bulbs, that means that you have 55watts in low beam and 60watts in high beam. The other without tri-bar option are part no."CWC-7008". If you leave 55/60 on them you don't need to use relays and they don't recomend to increase the wattage. In my case I had to modify the metal headlamp base and its support to acomodate them (I used a milling machine). The rear protruding area of this ones is bigger in diameter than originals & other H-4 headlamp assemblies. One important issue for you living in the states is that this ones aren't DOT approved for cars, just for motorcycles??? Other brands such as Hella & Bosch sell this type of assemblies but haven't investigate if those are DOT approved. If you go with HIDs you'll have to make more modifications, you decide.

No idea about DOT laws in Ca. but 55/60 comes standard in almost all original halogen replaceable bulb headlamp ***'y. this days so you wouln't be infringing the law in that area. Maybe they have other area of the law covering the light pattern that should be spread by the ***'y. Sorry, don't know.

Basically the DOT rules can be summerized by saying that due to the fact all higher wattage light bulbs effect the light spread afforded by the factory. So usually DOT just disapproves of any modifications in general. This doesn't mean you'll be pulled over. With the amount of imports (and even domestics) with projectors and fake hids and real hids, plus all the stock cars having a high variety, it makes it pretty minimal that you'll get pulled over for headlights alone as long as the new ones don't blind people.

thanks

USDred67RSSS, Check out the site I linked previously. Tells how to run relays and it has alot of good info on light color and brightness of headlights. Also talks about the issue with DOT compared to the europe code lights. Was very helpful for me to to decide on what to run. Worth the time to check it out.
