I can't wait to see myself finish it either! Too bad I'm back at school and will be away from the car for awhile... Hopefully over my spring break, or a weekend sometime before then, I'll be able to get a little more done on it.

I'll update this thread whenever I get anymore pics up online or if I make any accomplishments with the interior.

The floorboards look great, John. I'll let you do mine when you're done. Install the roll bar before doing any more interior work. Paint the rollbar your chioce of interior color. Yes, you can slide the headliner from the windshield after r/bar is in.

I used a 1/4 inch thick alum plate to bolt the seat. Then I used threaded rod and bolted the plate to the existing threaded holes in the floor. This allowwed me to "tilt" the seat. With the bar installed, a headrest pad from the r/bar crossbar to the seat back works very well to support the back of the seat's headrest.

One can have welded in extra material to reach the subframe to attach the driveshaft loop for alittle more support.

Dynamat is a good sound deadener, as well as the old jute padding.

I'd look at www.precisionmachine.com for a shifter.

As promised, I'm reviving this old post.

Just want to give you all an update on my interior project... well, haven't done any more work to it yet, nor have I updated the website...

BUT! I'm almost done with these darn law school finals and about a week from now I'll be back into the project! I'm sure I'll come up with more quesions, and I'll definately try to get the website updated!

first order of business is going to be refurbishing the dash pad. I'm going to try to re-skin it myself... probably with some simulated leather. Then, I'm going to wire in the new instruments, put the dash back together, put the column back in, put in a seat, put in the front and rear glass and finally take the thing for a drive again! It's been about 9 months since I've had it out for a drive!

I'm going crazy with Camaro withdrawl!

Well, I've gone and updated the webpage a bit! I got that center guage cluster in and it looks great! I've also started re-skinning my old vinyl pieces (arm rest pads and dash pad). It is going well so far.

Take a look on the webpage in the "interior" section! The new pages are 9 and 10.

I updated the pages and forgot to link them up! They're working now...

Here's a quicker way to get there... www.geocities.com/boodlefoof/newinterior

keep clicking "next" at the bottom to get to subsequent pages.

If you're ever in Richmond Everett!

speaking of which... I need to change my profile... no longer in Williamsburg unfortunately. I loved that little town. Now in Richmond, also a nice place.

Hey if I'm in town I'll be at the show! I wanted to go last summer, but got caught up in other events. What date is it going to be so that I can start planning ahead? Would love to get to thank you in person for the dash insert idea!

Well, I put in all the guages and finally got them all wired up.

I was anxious to see if they worked... and felt like firing her up... so I put the old shifter back in, sat a seat in there and turned the key! After a few cranks, she fired up and sounded great. All guages are working correctly...

Only problem... once I connected the battery the horn was going nuts... think maybe that Grant steering wheel isn't wired quite right... had to take it off to get the horn to stop!

Will try to update the site soon!

Ok, I've gotten the seat in, column in, etc... but I have a problem...

I'm using a Grant Classic series steering wheel. I installed it as per the instructions. However, as soon as I hook up the battery... "HOOOOOONK!" It won't stop until I unhook the battery... or pull the steering wheel back off. I've tried insulating any possible place where it is shorting, but can't get it to stop honking!
Any ideas?

Anyone have any ideas about the horn situation?

Also, they said it couldn't be done... but I'm half way there!

Yes, ladies and gentlemen I've fitted a new heavy cardboard backing plate that I will affix a modern style felt headliner to. It looks darn good so far if I do say so myself. I've just never been a fan of the bow-type vinyl headliners.

Will post pics when I finally have any time... with work consuming my day from dawn until about 6pm every day, I'm basically having dinner, then spending about 2 hours a day on the car, and then I'm ready to crash.

i had the same exact problem with the horn you were having john, my solution was to unhook the blasted thing, i noticed that the grant mounting bracket actually was touching a tiny tiny bare section of wire, didnt even notice it til i just ripped it out.

and yet again, thanks for all your help via email with regards to POR15, I am DEFINATLY interested in this felt/modern headliner, as i am 100% with you on not being a fan of that bloody madrid vinyl.

keep on truckin

my pleasure to help.

When you say you ripped it out, do you mean that you took it apart and put it back together and it worked then? Or do you mean you just unhooked the horn permanently?

I'll post about the headliner when I get it finished. As of right now, I've just about got the heavy cardboard backing plate finished and it is looking good even with no felt on it! It is suspended in the center via the dome light, and at the front and rear glass it tucks into some windlace that I fitted on the metal rails where that hard plastic trim was originally. :D

John are you making it to Minn. this summer? Car show is July 4th weekend again.

actually what happened, at about 11pm a couple weeks after i bought the car, i was sitting in my room and i hear a HOONNNNNKKKKKKK

i thought it was a cell phone alarm, as i twas muffled through my window and up the driveway adjacent to my house, so i ignored it.

then my stepdad comes in 'your car is making noise' so im like oh shhhhhit, run out in my boxers, with neighbors watching, and undo the battery cable.

in the morning, i took the steering wheel off, and what it looked like, was the horn contact was slightly exposed to the 5 prong mount that grant supplies, i think what happened was some moisture formed and the very tip of the horn wire grounded itself to something, shorted and the above ensued.

when i put the steering wheel back on, it worked just fine, i hot glued a small area of bare wire to prevent it from making that god awful noise.
