hello i have a question on my 68 camaro. i have "Astro Ventilation" signatured on my drivers side window. what does this mean? is this just a after market sticker? any help is appreiciated. thanks jeremy

In 1968 they changed from vent windows like on a 67 to the round ball vents that are in your 68's dash. They are called "Astro ventilation". The lettering on your window is original. Erik

My passenger side window was destroyed in a breakin and it went years without the astro ventilation writing on it. Last year I bought a sticker and if you don't rub your fingers across it, you'd never know that it is a sticker. It's a pretty cheap solution to have the original look.

That is true, Hawaiian.....

For the Camaro, they "Astro Ventilation" was used up until about January of 69. It was discontinued mostly due to FMVH Safety Standards. Strangely though, this did not impact the use of it on the vette's.

The factory used ceramic paint to spell the words out and then backed it on during the bending process. Steve McCorry is right (as usual) about the adhesive stickers.

Jeremy, are you certain it is a sticker?

dan i looked and it feels like it is painted on, the reason i asked if was a sticker is because i was not sure what this ment, thanks to everyones help i now know, thanks jeremy 68 Camaro SS

The astro ventilation script was put on the front windows only when the
custom / upscale interior was ordered. I'm not sure about the discountinuation of the script, I did see it on some 69s as well.

I was 16 when the 68s came out, and ordered a 68 rs/ss conv, console, gauges, tick tock tach, turbo 400, spoilers, conv, black, butternut yellow.
Sure miss that car ! 396/325 hp

I have it on my passenger window on my December 68 build 1969 Camaro RS/SS X-22. The car came with standard interior and woodgrain if that matters.
at the time "astro ventilation" was not a sticker but actually etched into the glass.

i believe the consumer activist Ralph Nader stopped the astro ventilation logo from appearing on camaro glass after dec 1967.

so a 1969 model year should not have astro ventilation on the glass

it was supposed to have been a safety concern. inhibiting the use of the side view mirrors.i had a dec 1967 built 1968 camaro. it had the astro ventilation logo and did not interfere with the sideview mirror.

Terry, not sure where you got that information from, but ALL 68 Camaro's from the start of production until late November, 1968* got the Astro Vent glass. It was discontinued way before the 1969 model year, so you shouldn't see a 69 with Astro Ventilation on it unless the glass has been replaced with glass from a 68.

*Read THIS for more information on the First Generation Camaro glass.
