I had the quarters replaced on my car in the past. One of them was not replaced at the factory seam, as I didn't have any idea back then what bodywork on these old cars was supposed to be.

This is a GM quarter, but I have been reading really good things about the AMD quarter panels. I was thinking about maybe pulling this quarter off and putting an AMD panel on to get rid of the extra seam. I know this is all a matter of opinion, but I value what everyone on here has to say.

If the fit of the panel is good at the rocker, the tail light panel, trunk, ect. I would leave well enough alone. Finished properly nobody is going to notice or care about that seam

I am speechless. That was way more work than using the factory seam. Wow.

After the repair and repaint, was that seam noticeable? I cannot tell from the pic. Is the seam welded and ground down the full length? I would be getting an opinion from Scott (Sauron67MM). Butt welds done correctly will be fine. If not welded the full length, you can develop ghost lines.

I would have a hard time tearing off a GM quarter to install AMD, even given the incorrect install. If the rest is done correctly (could be a big if) I would probably weld that seam full length, grind it down properly and go with it.

I would leave it myself if is a factory GM and rework that seam as stated by Lynn above. I might even add to lead that seam as well like the factory seam is.
I have OER quarters and doors(from Classic Industries) on my car going to original GM front fenders(bought back in '92) and the fit is horrible to say the least. The door and quarter lines are correct BUT the doors are not contoured the same as the original front fenders. They are close at the top and bottom and about an 1/8" inset at the center crease. Passenger side I will say is remarkably better than the driver side. My local restoration shop swears by AMD which I wish I went with now.
