Hi Guys It's been a while since I've posted on this board but it really is one of the greatest.

I'm abt to change the transmission filter on the 01 Sierra and one of the instructions calls to apply oil soluble grease to the pan to get the gasket to stick I guess long enough to get it bolted up.

What is oil soluble grease?...I'm guessing petroleum jelly but I just don't know.

Thanks

Trans Jel is oil soluble grease. I ahev heard petroleum jelly will work as well. When I serviced the tranny on my 2000 Sierra I did not grease the gasket and had/have no problems.

Trans Jel is used when building automatic transmissions, it breaks down/disolves in the tranny fluid. If I remember right it is made my SPX.
