Hello folks,

I see Classic has tinted door and quarter glass for a decent price and ordered some today. Just wondering if anyone knows who is making this for them and if the stuff is any good. Mine has scratches and I am hoping that this stuff is decent. Please let me know if you know what brand it is (LOF / PPG / Pilkington) and if it fits well enough. Any comments appreciated.

I did not replace my side glass, but I did get a dated windshield by Pilkington/LOF. No problem at all. They are OEM manufacturers.

I bought my dated glass straight from Pilkington as they were the original manufacturer. It turned out perfect. I bought a windshield and both of the door glass. I believe it took a few weeks to get it.

I have all original LOF SoftRay Tinted in my car. Unfortunately, the driver side rear has been scratched...don't think it will polish out. Do you think if I replace this piece with Pilkington modern SoftRay tinted that it will match alongside the driver door window glass. The car is a convertible so the two pieces will be next to each otheer...making any contrast more noticeable. Thanks for any advice out there.

I believe Pilkington can make a match to your glass. I didnt have tinted glass, all mine was clear, so I cant comment on how the tint matched. You can try calling them 1-800-848-1351.
They were very helpful when I dealt with them.

Does Classic buy their glass from Pilkington? Also, does Pilkington sell this stuff direct or do you have to go through a dealer? I would think that they do not sell direct unless their web site has a buy online option which I did not see.

I am not sure if they sell to Classic. I bought mine direct. They require that you fax them or send them a sketch of the etching on your glass to make sure they are using the proper etching. The also need to know if you can read the etching from inside the car or outside the car. I think they would like to talk to you in person to make sure they get it right the first time. I had no problems with them at all. The glass I got was exactly like my original.

I didnt need a quarter window. I replaced my windshield and both door glass. I had 1 original door glass left, but it was chipped at the top. All my glass was clear. The etching was extra. I think the windsheild was $250 with etching and the side windows were around $200 (??), I cant recall at the moment.

I bought a tinted windshield for my '72 Nova from Auto City Classics Inc. It's made by Pilkington, perfect fit and match. I picked it up from them at the GM Nationals ($109) last summer. Same price with or with out the internal radio antenna. I've also seen them at Super Chevy and Chevy Vette Fest. They have by far the cheapest prices on glass that I have found.

Well I got the new glass yesterday. It was ordered from Classic and only now am I wishing I would have asked where it was made. The stuff is made in China and although it looks very nice, I thought for sure it would have been american made glass. The markings on the glass say temperlite and I am wondering if anyone has ever used this stuff?

Someone with actual experience using it would be a bonus!

Thanks???
