Hi
I'm looking for a 67 Camaro RS convertible.
I found this very nice looking car in Chicago:
1967 Chevrolet Camaro RS Convertible Addison, Illinois | Auto Gallery Chicago
For me it is important that it is an original car. I have no chance to bring a modified car on the streets here in Switzerland.
As I see, this one was born as a 6 cylinder car and has a 1975 350 engine now. This engine should work here.
Everything else looks original for me. Unfortunately, not many options. What do you think is this car worth?
Compared it with Hagerty it seem expensive.

Looking forward to see your comments.
thank you
Daniel

Way overpriced for a mutt. Not all original as dealer suggests.

Although a very nice looking car. If you are shopping with a budget in this price range, keep looking. You can afford a very nice restored numbers matching car. Protect your investment.

Clone or not, looks like a nice restoration. Car should bring low to mid 30's. You would be hard pressed to build it for 30 unless you got the car for nothing. Keep looking for that original car, may take a while. Good luck in your search.

There is something not right with that VIN vs. the trim tag date of 04B. My 67 05B NOR has a vin of N218XXX and this 04B has a vin 224779. Some fonts in the trim tag don't look quite right and the N in the VIN plate looks strange too (or it may be the light). Nice looking car otherwise.

45K would be for a REAL V8 Camaro convertible with a bunch of FACTORY options.

No power top. This is a very nice option.
No gauges.
No AC.
No deluxe seats. Shows 765-B on the tag, but no deluxe seats and B for blue.
No rear antenna. 2MGS, S means rear antenna.

Engine configured for 1969 and up presentation. At least it has power steering.

It's a cobbled together I-6 fake car listed for real V8 car money.

I'd take a hard pass on this one. No thanks.

Looks nice from the stealership pictures.

If it checked out a everything was as advertised them maybe a low 30ish car.

I agree with others here.
I find Deluxe door/side panels with Standard seats
VIN 123 states life started with L6,
Engine is '68 and later due to accessory bracket bolt holes in cylinder heads AND '69 and later accessory set-up (alt on pass side rather than drvr side),
Trunk spoiler added as '67's did not come with rear spoiler,
BBC heater core installed,

Still a nice looking Camaro.
I just re-read first post and read it has a '75 engine - my bad.

Wow, thank you all very much. Very interesting answers.
I it looks like there is really something wrong with the Trim tag. Especially when I read Mike_S post with the numbers. There is something wrong.
@Michael (mahut) I agree with your post. But NOR cars have a different code for the interior color as I know. There is a single letter (above the "B" from Body) in this case an "E". This is for black. But, I don't understand the "B" at the interior trim part? Must be an H,T,Y or Z.
I think the VIN is original. The special design pin like a crone looks original.
Is it possible to fake the Trim tag?

Well, yes, it is a nice car, but it is always good to have some arguments for price discussions. My budget is around 30's. I hope to find a nice car in that range. Below 30 is also ok to have more left for the transport.

Thank you all for the interesting answers.

If the VIN is original then the trim tag is a suspect. That VIN is much later than the 04B tag period. The hidden VIN stamp on the cowl top should prove one way or the other. The letter N in the VIN tag on the door pillar looks strange though.

Ok, yes. Understand. But makes no sense to fake the vin tag and keep the car as a 6L car. I would fake it to a V8.
Sorry, but I don't understand ,cowl top,. Where is this place? Is it possible to see this?
What about the title? The numbers there must be also correct?
Thank you.
Daniel

* With the extra wide hole in the right side of the VIN plate and the EXTRA large N for Norwood it looks pretty phoney. The Trim Tag is shiny and very new looking with nice shiny aluminum paint on the rivet goop. Not an expert but both are suspicious. Faking a Vin plate for an inline six doesn't make sense unless it was a six when tags were put on it and converted to a V8 after. Or the guy who built it had a six cylinder title knowing that 99% of the people would never check or never suspect.
Daniel run from this one. There are lots of cars out there and keep posting here. The guys will help you decode and help you find your dream car

I think I have to say a big thank you to all who helped me here to avoid a big mistake.
This will not be my car.
Ok, start searching again...

Wow, I guess I better research the pricing for my 67 RS/SS car before I put it on the market. :surprise: I'll put it this way, mine is a real RS/SS car with more options and no questions about the VIN, and I would take mid 30's for it in a heartbeat. Guess the market is coming back.

In your search I would strongly suggest you stay away from dealers. You're at best paying a 20% or more premium over what the cars are worth. They are also practiced at deception.

As you can see I don't trust any of them.

Go on EBay and in your search filter pick Private Party only listings.

Then for the cars you are interested in contact the seller directly for additional info.

Many TC members will be happy to check out prospects in their area for you.

If you are not planning to see the car in person before money changes hands enlist the sevices of a 3rd party inspector.
