Here is a pic of my new leaf spring bushing beside my old one.http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/ck-2/2005_0501springbushing0034.jpg My old ones were shot so bad that the springs were rubbing the frame, but my new ones are so long the bolts are too short.

They are the same length from the shoulder in (the part that goes in the spring or frame), but from the shoulder out there is a big difference. Is this right? If so I need suggestions on how to get my shackles together.

I tried putting two bushings in the springs and starting my bolts but it wasn't even close. And I have the rearend out of the car. I can't imagine what it would be like trying to start the two that go in the frame.

I thought about getting a long bolt or all thread to start one set, but if these bushings are wrong I don't want to force it together only to take it apart.

those look like the set i got with the generic shackle kit for early f-bodies. way to tall at the shoulder just like you say. are your shackles original??

i have a brand new rubber set of bushings that are correct with the low shoulder. i got them with my correct appearing shackle kit from Rick's but went with poly bushings instead. these have never been installed. they are yours for the asking. i have no need for them now, they're just taking up space in my drawer.

send me an email and we can get it done.

I just installed poly bushings yesterday. Your picture looks way too tall at the shoulder. My poly bushings were pretty close to the ones I had to take out. I didn't have any problem with the spring bushing but the one's that went into the frame part of the upper shackle was a royal pain. I first took a long threaded bolt and 2 large washers and 2 nuts and tightened slowly and pulled the first one into place then placed the second bushing in place and did the same. There has to be a better way but my way got it done. Then was just no way I could apply pressure to push them into place while I was laying underneath the car.

Thanks Run269 I sent you an email. Wilmar, these slide right in my frame and springs easy by hand. But the shoulder is just too tall.

It's a shame companies are selling parts that don't even fit.

i got your email ck 2. i'll get them in the mail tomorrow so you can get on with your install.

Yep, the tall shoulder bushing is for '70 and later Camaro/Nova. I had a set of those, and used them on my race car. They will work, but they are not "correct".

Those look exactly like the ones I got from Napa for a '70 Nova I'm doing.

I'm installing Hotckis springs, and the shoulder on the poly ones that came with the springs are about half the height of the rubber NAPA ones.

ck 2 your new bushings are in the mail.

they should be a press fit into the springs and also into the mounts in the car. might find you a long bolt with lots of threads or a piece of allthread to pull them into the holes.

good luck and be careful getting the rear axle back in.

I didn't know about the freezing them deal so I just used Althread, washers and nuts!

I guess I woulda used a hacksaw on them and cut them down..

BUT you are right, take/send them back and get a refund b/c they ARE WRONG regardless!

AND way cool to me a guy helping another guy out in a pinch!!!!!

I got my bushings today and wanted to come on here and thank Run269 for sending me these bushings. He sent me this new set free of charge and got them to me fast. It's hard to get people to move this quick when you are paying them.

I hope that I can return the favor to him or do the same for someone else sometime. It's good to know there are still people like him in this world that will help people out. Thanks also to team camaro and each and everyone on here who help people out.

This site makes restoring my car that much more enjoyable, knowing that if I get stumped or have a question there is someone on here who has already been there and can help.

Thanks again everyone and especially Run269 (Charles).
