I can tell you that I see them (new Mustangs) all over the road around here. I was wondering what the numbers were. There are selling that's for sure. Not sure GM would be able to answer the call anyway. The Mustang is a excellent example of a "throw back" it still has all the new features but, you can look at it from any angle and it looks like an older mustang. It's by far the best looking Mustang since the early 70's (IMO).

I would bet ALOT...Every time I am in Phoenix, Avis is pushing them, and the lot is full of them....I am glad an american product is selling good...that is good for the domestic industry, but even with all of those sales, Ford is projecting a fairly substantial loss for the second quarter, and even more for the full year......These cars are not a savior....

I saw a dodge commercial about a daytona ram truck? In the commercial they had a 69?? daytona charger and a daytona ram truck driving around together!?!?

I have been pretty sick lately, maybe I was hallucinating? :clonk:

No Paul, the stretch has been made and now car shows and cruise in's will have to contend with another '05 classic model being shown off...

Hey as for the 19,559 Mustangs sold in April, GM's best selling Colorado platform sold 15,147 trucks in April staying ahead of the Tacoma by about 900 trucks and widening it's lead in the market for the year... Mustang and Colorado are apples and oranges but I think it shows GM isn't as far out in left field as some of the vocal ones here think...

that's not bad news. I'll probably need a new daily driver in a few years, that means I'll be able to pick one up dirt cheap.....I mean you can get a 2000 GT right now 10K or less with some mods already installed.

Ford is increasing Stang production by 70% for 2006, I might pick one up.

TRAITORS....ALL OF YOU.......TRAITORS!!!! (just kidding) :D

Well, Ford has undeniably won the "muscle car wars" of the 60's as the last surviving car of that era. I really like the new design a lot, and if I had both the money and the room right now, I'd get one for sure.

Muscle car wars of the 60's??? This is 2005, the muscle car era ended in the early to mid 70's. The new Mustang is a cool car and has both looks and performance. It's resemblence to a car of the past is making it apeal to those into the retro look but that's as far as it goes. It will never replace the orig Mustangs or any other vintage car from the muscle car days...

Not out in left field...they could be winning the game....what would their sales be with the Colorado PLUS the Camaro. The key to the market share is to diversify and not put all your eggs into one basket. Right now Chevrolet is banking heavily on the truck/suv market. They need to look at the whole playing field.

Mustang buyers are Mustang buyers, it doesn't really matter what the car looks like. I don't think the so called "retro" styling has much to do with it. Most of the new Mustangs I've seen are stripped down 6 cyl coupes that are actually pretty ugly looking. GM obviously has nothing to compete with so potential Camaro/Firebird buyers end up switching to the Mustang. Some people just don't like front wheel drive so they don't have a lot of options in today's new car market. I'm just glad I'm not in the market for anything new because I don't like any of what I see.

As much as I like the new GT's, I doubt I buy one unless I can steal it. My brother had two of the last generation models and because there is so many of them, they become hard to sell unless heavily optioned. I never like buying the first year out either. Too many unkown potential reliability problems that the manufacturers will fix after consumer feedback. I won't be their guinea pig.

I am one of the TRADER'S ,,,,,,,LOL , needed a daily driver and it came down to $300 a month for an AVEO 34 mpg or a 2005 mustang v6 five speed 28 to 33 mpg for $350 a month , and (GULP) I got the 2005 mustang , first ever new car and first ever ford ,, I did not want a new car but my credit is bad (REAL BAD) and they would only finance me a new car I could not get a three or four year old one ,

I HATE MUSTANGS I cannot believe all of yall that like stangs, man i'm a diehard camaro fan CHEVROLET TILL I DIE!!!!
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know there's a fine line between love and hate. You know you want one, but won't admit it. I bet it won't be long and we'll see you cruisin' around in a shiny new mustang cobra when they come out. Of course, you'll move to the next city so that none of your buddies catch you in it. You'll add a chip and some NOS and try out running your brother-in-law since you hate his mustang cobra, hehehehe. Then you'll get beat by him and come to find out that his mustang actually has a v8 chevy under the hood. Won't that throw you for a spin? (I'm sure that I've stirred the pot now. LMAO!!!)

On a serious note, it's hard to be brand loyal for 30 something years when the company that you've been loyal to, begins making nearly every vehicle a front wheel drive unit with a whimpy little v6. It makes the pickin's slim when a guy wants to buy a new CHEVROLET rear wheel driven v8 powered car. I know you can go buy a new GTO (but it doesn't say Chevrolet on the outside of it). The only ones that I can think of are the SSR and the Vette. These both cost a big chunck of change. And for the SSR, I'm not sure what you're really getting for that high cost. I hear it lacks in the performance area and you can't really haul anything in the bed, but that's a whole other topic to debate upon. As you can tell, this die hard Chevy fan is becoming a little discouraged at their current marketing direction. Just my 2 cents.
