I have restored dozens of first gen and while installing speaker wires under the sill plates the screws used were non washer trim screws. Is this correct or should they have the trim screws with the washer? I would think yes? Who Knows?

I am referring to the polished aluminum sill plates not the inner rocker wire shield plate. I replaced the beat up original riveted plates 30 years ago (Stupid) Have owned this 69 RSSS vert for 39 years. I paid $2100 for it as our 2nd car for years and was the start of my passion for Camaros, hence "The Camaro Guys" and "The Muscle Car Guys" restoration services, since retired.

I just had mine off the other day to remove driver side kick panel. No washers because the chrome trim screws have tapered heads.
By the way, removed kick and found factory courtesy lights plug nicely rapped up and ready to use. I guess my car never had courtesy lights option.

4 Tapered stainless screws each plate.

Trimparts inc. make the best reproduction sill plates with rivets I have seen. Screws included.

Sorry yes factory 67-68-69 were chrome. I have stainless right now don't remember if I swapped them or if they came with my plates.

They never had washers - they were a phillips head chrome screw. I believe the correct term is a oval head screw meaning it being tapered for a countersunk hole and also having a bit of a rounded head instead of a flat head and if you tighten a smidgen too much, they blow right through the sill plate:sad:

The trim screws with the attached washer, some large like for the door panals, some small for plastic parts. I have boxes of each type, Au-ve-co Products available at my local upolstery shop. Original were chrome. Stainless seem to have a different color, more yellowish.
