Block looks like a restamp. T1114JF is what it looks like on a block cast late Sept., but the heads are November. I just dont think it's the orig block. It's missing the smog setup. I would be very cautious on paying top dollar for any big block convert without paperwork to prove it. It looks like a decent car, I guess it depends on the final price, which I wouldnt think would be cheap, real or not.

What is with the washers and nut used for a spacer. I don't get it. I know it is easy to nit pick these cars to death, and normally I wouldn't do so, except the seller says : "This is one of the most complete correct cars I have put to auction or ever encountered, period."

You are looking at big bucks here. I wouldn't consider it unless I inspected personally, or had someone reputable inspect it.

Block looks like a restamp?

The stamp looks fine to me, although the pic is not a very good one.

Real RS, 712 interior (MUCH cooler than 711), good color (Garnet), fairly correct big block convertible. Lots to like.

He just has to get those headlight doors to close. If they don't operate, at least have them closed, as they look much cooler that way.

Would a Nov built car have an alternate vin ? Ive only seen blocks w alt vin have the TO stamping to the left side of the block, not the middle. Doesnt seem like there is enough room on that pad for a VIN? BS code rear is a 331,not 373...

Be warry of anyone using the term "Super Rare". They are obviously looking to pump up the value of the car.

I just recently seen fake build sheets selling on ebay. I would be suspicious of any car selling on ebay purported to be a rare car or numbers matching car, if it all that rare it would sell in a flash in other venue's. Way to may clones being build and sold to unsuspecting buyers..

Just talked to the owner...it's really a dealer, says the car is all numbers matching, the guts of the rear were changed to the 3.73. 10 year old restore, but climate controlled since then. They bought it already restored. Says it is more rare than a pace car, and expects to get in the $80K range....

Is that a correct trim tag? Doesnt that look like a later style tag?

Here is a pic of mine built after(build date 11D), this camaro(11A):

This is the trim tag for the camaro above:

Oh, and if anyone feels like spending 40K on a 69 L78/RS, mine will be done in a few months!!!! :D

Josh:

Good call on the trim tag. I don't see how a third week car could get the "later style" trim tag, but not a 4th week car. I suppose it is possible. Did they change over on the convertibles before the coupes? Also didn't the new style tags get the X codes? Is the rivet spacing the same on the two tags? Anyone know? Sure looks like the tag may have been swapped out.

I know Kurt S usually can look at these and say whether it is a fake tag. If the tag is fake, there is no reason to trust any part of the car as being original.

Calling Kurt S. Is the ebay car tag fake?

Bilodeaulynn, I can say for sure that MY tag is orignal and has not been changed or altered.

Josh:

No doubt in my mind yours is the original.

My guess is this one was swapped out to "match" the resale red paint job. The tag makers at least knew not to put an X code on it, but used the wrong style.

Still would like to hear Kurt's opinion on this tag.

I do believe a third week car could have the large trim tag ..just not an X code.... How many others out there have a 11D car with a small tag ? In my novice opinion the tag looks OK to me thought both pictures are a bit fuzzy ... I am sure Mark or Kurt will supply us all with the "Gospel" soon enough :)
