Over in the old neighborhood several years ago we had Deer, Turkeys, Hoot Owls and Coyotes.. Even had a Green Tree Snake and a great big Black Snake in the backyard!!

They started building back behind us to the east and everything just kinda left....

PS., Black Snakes are beautiful up close!!!

We have *****, foxes, tons of birds and deer that come to our yard for the rich green grass. Here is a picture of my girlfriend feeding a baby deer that was rescuded from the side of the road. It's mother had been hit and it was just standing near her shaking. His name is thumper and he lives in the house right now. He follows you everyplace and loves attention. The cats sleep next to him on a huge dog pillow in the house. He will have to live in a pen when he gets older. There is a deer farm about 1 mile away that will take him when he is old enough. It's a place rescude deer live. They are treated very well and have a very large pens. Most choose to stay but some to get out, but usally are found to come back ina few days. Hopping right back in the pens. The funny thing is when deer season comes you will see 2 times the amount of deer there. They are smarter than you think. They know where they can be safe. Some jerk shot one last year, but he was caught and did jail time.

Must be a full moon? :) A "small" snapping turtle came out of the river this morning for egg laying. She tried several spots around the yard but didnt like the soil temp or texture I guess, so we followed her around the house and she layed her eggs right next to the driveway, warm soil I guess. I also missed a pic of a huge hawk yesterday right outside my window. This turtle is small compared to one that was at least 3 times this big that we watched years ago here. Wanna go swimming? :D
GREAT PICS FOLKS !! We do have lives away from our cars right?

Just be careful if you have pets. We have, amongst others, two Jack Russells. A neighbor lost her puppy to a Red Tail Hawk recently (right in front of her). Very sad all around.

Funny I stumble on this post today... I woke last night to what sounded like an owl orgy in my woods. I've been listening to an unfamiliar owl call for a couple weeks, so after last night and seeing this post I went to owl pages.com , listened to some calls and bingo..I have a Barred Owl in my woods too! And they were mating. Must like the Lemans blue 69's ( nice car(s) Jamie!

We have a Jack Russel, when she is outside the Lab is with her to protect her.

The wife did notice that we have no more squirrels around, there used to be three in the tree that the owls occupy.

Thanks:)

Cant believe the wildlife today, tonight sitting on the screen porch, our cat was jittery and staring into the black of night and we could hear scratching noises. Turned on the yard lights and there was a huge raccoon eating bird seed out of a feeder on the tree. Out came the digital and presto, night pics of the pesky raccoon. Enjoy.. :beers:

***** sure are cute.............beware all they can be mean as heck. The one around our house give the dog a hard time to get to his food.

Owls are pretty cool. We used to get them at work from time to time ( I'm a vet by the way). I love the way that you can hold them by the feet and completely turn their body over 180 degrees and they would still keep their eyes and head competely focused directly on you. The head never moved but the body turned 180 degrees. Pretty cool...

Having and owl sitting on my paint.... not cool......
