I am just finishing up my 68 427 car and asking for opinions on brakes. It is currently a manual front rear drum car. I currently have the parts around to convert the car to 68 power front discs (all original parts). Since the car is not original, do you think it will be worth the effort and EXPENSE to convert the car to an aftermarket 4 wheel disc set up? The car will see occasional street use and very infrequent 1/4 mile use. I am guessing that the parts for 4 wheel discs will approach $2000 by the time I am done. Thanks, Bill D

Right now I leaning toward just putting the parts I have for the front discs on and leaving it at that as the I also just did a brake job on the rear drums. On the other hand, I can sell the front disc stuff and pay the difference to go with aftermarket 4 wheel discs. If I do go 4 wheel disc I want a proven complete kit with a matched master cylinder and lines for the kit so I don't have a month long experiment trying to get things to work properly. So if anyone has experience with complete 4 wheel disc packages I would like to know about your experiences. Thanks for all the help. Bill D

below is a quote from a dealer @ http://pro-touring.com
quote doesn't include master cylinder or lines
you can save $ by using plain rotors instead of crossdrilled/slotted

"140-7675-D 12.19"x.866" Cross-Drilled and slotted rotors, with 4 piston Dynalite calipers, brackets, pads, hardware, and probaly the best looking Billet hubs with bearings and seals you ever set eye's on, and Instux.

$718.00 Pro-Series rear kit with Park-Brake 140-7141-D (part#depending on wheel rear axle offset) 12.19"x.866" Cross-Drilled and slotted rotors, with 4 piston Dynalite calipers, brackets, pads, park brake provisions, and instrux.

Buy both and I'll take 5% off as a front/rear discount. So your total price then would be $1348.88. And as many know on this forum I do free shipping to anyone on the Pro-touring website!!"
