Not to bad for a 120 degree track in 90 degree heat, dead air.

http://www.davemilcarek.com/072405/pages/7-24-1D 031.htm

still some work ahead of me getting it to wheelie higher (its wheeling there, but only what looks like an 1" or so of Air under the tires.) but i'm liking the results of hard work and the right parts :D

that was an 11.67 pass and a 1.58 60ft, i was shallow staged.

Looks good as usual!
Now, throw another 250hp and 200ft lbs of torque at it and see how it does with the same tire and suspension.

My car really struggled in the heat this last weekend.

BTW.......thanks for your suggestions about locked timing. Although I didn't end up doing that, I did set it up for 30 initial and 38 total. Still starts like a champ, advances by 2500 and idles way better. My engine builder agreed with you BTW....I just couldn't make myself do it.

Nice Brian.
What kinda ladder bars you got under there???
Got some pics on your page?
Also when can I get that Carter pump from you? no hurry.

Ron I see you got that Nova going low 10s already, looks like them
9.90s I was telling you about are gonna be there soon for you.
Whats your 60ft? I know I've had a really hard time with the 60ft,
and is still inconsistant. Glad to see your ride flying like that.
Got a ram-air or cowl induction on it?

Ron, glad my advice helped out! thanks for the compliment!

Rafel,
thats Alf Wiebe's suspension, sorry, as a favor to Alf's hours of engineering i cant post detailed photos of it. Its bolt-on and Stock eliminator legal.

The carter pump will probably come off in the fall. At the latest the winter.

Brian.......I also have a stock eliminator setup on my car. I see this setup on cars out west here. Noteably Cal and Mary Ann Method. Mine is a ladder bar type setup with a sliding front link. I suppose I ought to get some photos. It's a bit hard to describe.

Thanks for the kind words. I got exactly one attemp at the 1/4 as I was running in a 10.50 pro street race.
The track was pretty bad and on that pass it went 1.48 60ft. Spun for about 10 feet......with the fronts in the air....or so I'm told.
Best for the car was a 1.44 a couple of weeks ago in the evening. That night it was between 1.44 and 1.46.
The plan is to 4 wheel scale the car and see what's up. I also need a video to see for myself how the chassis reacts. It seems to all fall apart when the track sucks......all the way into the 1.6 range.
The car does have a 5" cowl hood, and the aircleaner sticks all the way up past the airpan. Can't really seal it though.....linkage gets in the way.

Brain, hope we haven't stole your thread.

Ron

Brian, now that I look closer, I bet what I have is very much the same as what you have.
Ron

Ron,
Feel free to start another thread and post pictures. I really don't understand why anyone would want to keep it a secret. If that's the case this whole site should be shut down. Maybe it isn't my business, but I felt the need to voice my opinion. If we are going to all start trying to be "pretend" CIA agents then what's the use. This site was/is meant for us to help each other, not come and post to brag how fast we went and then not tell anyone how it was done. I am not saying you have to give all your "secrets". Sounds more like a street racing night (everyone has secrets and doesn't want anyone to know how fast their car really is or usually isn't).

If I am off base here, please explain why.

What fun would the body shop section be if people like Martin, kept everything a secret and the suspension and brake area with David, or how about the rear end/transmission section with people like Big Gear Head and Steve. If you don't want to share then don't bring it up. It's like having 2 pieces of candy and a room full of kids, have you ever heard " if you didn't bring enough for everyone then don't take it out".

Do NOT ask me to share someone elses engineering.

I will share what works for me in chassis tuning, what i change on my car, engine tuning, engine building and more, however dont expect me to share other's hard work and engineering.

Here it is, you know who builds it, and if you're interested in the setup then Call Alf and Order it. If it WONT work for your car, he wont sell it to you! All you have to do is be willing to listen, and do some work.

As i've stated before, i go to PM's becuase i dont have 500 people making conflicting statements when i'm trying to help someone in PM's.

what i will say is that i'm using Koni Street adjustable shocks on all 4 corners, and will be testing koni drag shocks in the front in a week or two.

68rs406:
Yes, I ran with the Modified Street guys........had some very fortunate results...until the final. :) Me and my car are no good on the .400 pro tree! Qualifying #1 was pure absolute luck....but it was fun. Nice bunch of folks! I had a blast.

The Suspension:
As far as I know, the bars I'm using were designed and built here in Oregon by by a stock class racer named Steve Hanby. I have no idea if it was actually his design, but he did build them. So you could look him up, he lives near Salem Oregon. That's what I did.
Mine actually came from a buddy who bought a 12 sec Camaro and they were on it. I made him a deal, I bought him a set of slapper bars, and traded him. The Camaro didn't need them at all. And I was tired of messing with Cal Tracks w/o any success.
I changed mine from the original design. I made new rear end mount plates that moved the bar forward so I could move the front pivot forward of the front spring eye. I didn't like the way the front mount welded to the flimsy front spring perch. Mine actually now mount to the sub frame connectors, a much stronger setup. And it moved the instant center....this might be good or it might be bad. On a good track it works very well.

What they are is a ladder bar that mounts where the original shock plate used to be on the bottom of the spring perch. Think of a Call Track but with 2 mount holes. The front of the bar slides in a tubular mount that pivots and originally mounted to the front spring perch. You have to keep the slider greased up real well. The setup doesn't bind. And can be pre-loaded like a conventional ladder bar.

As far as sharing pictures, since these are on the market and you can buy them....I think it should be ok to post them. I don't think they could be copied exactly from photos anyway. And since mine were built locally, and since mine aren't the stock setup, there are no secrets here.

The bad news is....I don't have a digital camera!

If you search this forum for posts by BPOS, he posted a pic of my car, and if you lighten the image, you can see the bars. No detail though.

BTW.....I didn't meant to start an argument.......

Ron

first off, sorry about the partial hijacking, dragfab.
ron, cool! thats the group my buddy and i race with, i work on one of the pro street cars (he calls me crew chief, i dont care for titles). we were not there however, other obligations.
i know most all of those guys, what a great group of guys (and gals). the guy with the red outlaw 63 vette is my machinist buddy that did all the machine work on my 406, very cool guy, good machinist.
it sounds like a lot of the guys were not there, with the nationals in seattle and all, you'll have to try and make it out again, when theres a few more guys out. i saw a guy named ron posting on the npsa board and put 2+2 together when you mentioned the 10.50 class. how do you like the heads up style of index racing? i wish they'd make an 11.50 class, then i could run my camaro, as it is i dont want to sandbag to a 12.50, and dont want to cage my car to run 10.50. its fun wrenching though, and taking my camaro out for the occasional weekend thrash.
anyway, hope to see you out sometime again, sounds like you did real well

and, amen royce! would you tell a guy at the track to get the hell out from under your car if he was checking out what "works for you"? i'm a street racer from way back, i understand secrecy, but if a buddy asks what i have and how it works, i'll tell all (well, most ;) )

The 10.5 class was fun. Sort of like super street but w/o electronics and on a .400 pro tree. I think a .500 pro tree would suit the foot brake guys like me better......but no complaints.
I'd love to try it again, but since I'm a no trailer guy, driving 3 hours norts would be a pain in the butt with my car. But you never know.
Later,
Ron

I guess I just don't get it. Brian aren't you the same guy that a few weeks ago was asking for measurements off of people Caltracs? So you could "engineer" your own. If that is not hypocritical, I don't know what is. Nobody asked for measurements, they only asked for a picture. Personally it doesn't matter to me, my car is a four link car. My whole point is if you don't want to share details then don't post about it at all. Or just flat out lie and say you have stock suspension. Don't throw out teasers to a group of guys that have helped you out along the way. This board is all about sharing knowledge, if you have nothing to share then why post at all? Lately every post you have turns into PM me for this or that, or look what I did. Not very cool in my opinion.

We will get some pictures up of what I have. Aparrently it is not the same setup Brian uses.

Ron

Brian, if you want to go to PM, then why not just send the guy a PM rather than publicly asking him to PM you?

It comes across like you are making a point to tell everyone you are excluding us from your conversation.

PS. Good point about the Caltracs Royce ;)

Back to everyone ganging up against me.

Actually i never said anything about a new setup, just that the car's working, and that i had work ahead still.

BTW, i asked what size the rod ends were on the caltracs, i already have the measurements ;) And i decided against making a set of them, not to mention i had plans to modify the design intensly, beyond what was posted here.

By asking to PM, i'm just saying that if they WANT my help, then can ask for it specificially, and a few people do, works out nicely.
