INTRO: My name is Andrew :waving: and I have just purchased a '77 Camaro with a 305 in it. I paid $850 for the car so it doesn't look like much right now but has potential. At this point, I am in the process of installing an Edelbrock 2101 Performer manifold, and a Holley 4150 carb. It's now on the block and bolted down but I have a few issues...

First of all, trying to get the info I need out of the Haynes Repair Manual is a joke. (not laughing...) There's a hose that goes from where the EFE system attached to the old carb which goes down to this thing attached to a bracket on the passenger side header that kind of looks like an ERG valve with a metal tube that goes down under the engine then? What do I do with this system now that I'm installing a new Holley 4150?

Another thing: I was cleaning off the thermostat housing and broke the thing that comes out of it. Do I even need this? Of course I looked in the Haynes manual and it shows a thermostat housing with the radiator hose attached- that's it. Am I to assume that I don't need that either and can replace it with a thermostat housing which only has a place for the radiator hose hook up?

Thanks in advance for your help! :beers:

4150 style carb on a 305? thats too much carb probably. All a 305 needs is 450-550 cfm on the street. The little thing on the thermostat housing with an electrical plug is what youre referring to right? Don't worry about that thing if youre gonna make a hot rod out of the car. That is part of the smog equipment/choke/heat riser junk. I have never owned a Camaro with smog control, catalytic converters or EGR. I have always removed that stuff because it is not necessary for performance. Even on the 3 LT1 cars I have had, no smog or converters. My cars are hot rod daily drivers. They see the drag strip every once in a while too.

Thanks for the replies!

I'll be putting a new set of headers on, so hopefully that'll help with the 670. Everything is installed and the engine runs great. The only problems I have is:

1) the grounding cable from the firewall to the engine block gets hot when I turn her over, then cools when it's started. Hmmmm?

2) trying to hook up the transmission cable, the throtle cable is hooked up, but I can't seem to figure out how the other should/could hook up.
