Let me preface this by saying I feel pretty silly just noticing this tonight after owning the car a few months.
67 Camaro 4-spd, 350 with cam, headers, HEI, and double hump heads.
I'm putting a new carb on the car, and in so doing changing plugs, fuel lines, filter, etc. I see the plugs are Autolite 26s and the newer, smaller 5/8 size. I think the block is early to mid 70s, but weren't all double hump heads produced mid to late 60s and use the larger 13/16" plug with the "gasket"?
These plugs are completely carbon covered, threads included. The threads being so dirty could be explained by being tapered in a non tapered head?
If my thinking is correct, then what plug should I use, and how would I guess the heat range and gap since we're dealing with a mildy cammed engine and HEI? If all double hump heads were used between say 1964 and 1967 (guessing - no idea) then I could start with a set of stockers from that era.
Its just something I didn't think to look at before this carb project.
Thanks in advance!
