i bought a 1970 camaro 396, and i seem to think this maybe a true ss396. but cant know for sure, so i bought it anyways. becuase it is clean. and i love it. from what i can see the engine is from may 70 the car appears to have a very worn original paint job. i never belive to have been repainted. it looks like it maybe citrus green but not sure. i have know real clue what the color originally looked like. and this one is worn out the tail panel is black but is really hard to see agian worn out and surface rust. it does have the full front bumper. and standard grill with a th400
the body tag reads
ST 70 12487 BL 30343 BDY
TR 723 43 43 PNT
07B 098087 130096

i know that van nuyes didnot stamp vin with z27 z28 or anything like that. i am curious what if anything 098087 130096 means and if it means nothing why is it there. im also looking for any sings that say this is not a ss. the rear axle and seats and gas tank are long gone, so i am sure i will never find a build sheet.

I not sure, but you can try www.nastyz28.com its a website just for 70-81 camaros. Should be able to tell you there. I'm a member of it and I happy with the board.

1) One piece fan shroud with part number cast into INSIDE ending with 920

2) Large Opening core support with 26" wide air opening/hole

3) If you can evaluate the rear panel as having ORIGINAL Black paint.....thats IT SS396

4) Dual Exhaust Tail pipe hangars off rear frame

5) Different motor mount frame brackets....cant find stamped #'s right now (also same as Z-28

As said before READ, STUDY www.nastyz28.com
