Anybody seen the December issue of Hot Rod?

Great almost full-issue (from page 44-94!) detailing the "new" Camaro from conception to completion.

Imagine buying a "new" 2006/1969 Camaro turnkey from the low $40K's.

Check out the issue Camaro fans...it's awesome! :beers:

The parts I like, are that they actually show its faults. The normal stuff like, the headers hang too low, somethimg about the ignition, etc. Not that I like seeing stuff fail, but rather it lets you see the whole pictures, the Good, the Bad, and well, not sure that there is an ugly side.....LOL. You get my point.

Great article worth the time spent to read.

If you haven't seen the Hot Rod 1 up close you can't appeciate the car fully.
Jim & Doug at C.A.R.S. and David Freigburger @ Hot Rod Magazine are really good people to be associated with. We went to their shop in NC last year to see the Camaro being assembled before the SEMA show. Incredible shop. We supply and make the combination driving light / park /turn signal conversion kits and mirror polished stainless steel brackets for the Hot Rod Camaros. A great article and a mighty Fine 69. Billy

 $40 grand for a "New" 69 Camaro sucks. It will be another GM nitch car that will have low sales volume, and keep the average Kid (Future life long GM customer) out of an American car driver seat. Great idea GM! keep giving you seed customers to Toyota and Honda. You have to start addressing the "Tuners" and bring a cool $20 grand car to market or the only time the word Camaro will be spoken in the future will be in retirement homes. the new Camaro should do just that, Mustang and the F word did.

Dude.....what in the name of GOD are you talking about???!!!!!!!

GM is not associated with this car. This is an actual 1969 Camaro that is being assembled from the ground up using reproduction parts. That's it. This is not a new vehicle that GM is offering.

GM isn't building them,tuners are.

As I mentioned,we as Camaro enthusiasts should embrace these "new" cars, not look at them as inferior. This is the way of the world. You knew it was just a matter of time when someone would "re-create" the 1969 Camaro, perhaps the most famous of all musclecars.Gm was asleep at the wheel once again so here we have the Dynacorn piece.

Sure, there are kinks to be worked out but isn't there always?

Don't fight it Camaro fans...embrace it because...IT'S HERE!

Tuners? what tuners? Kinks? What kinks? C.A.R.S. from N.C are building them, and I'm not aware of any kinks. The process couldn't be simpler: buy a body, buy some parts, assemble to suit your dreams.:)

I am not sure where the 40K came from?? Expect them to be higher then that!

You know...the usual...panel fit and alignment.Nothing that can't be rectified but there is and will be teething problems at the begining as there always is.

3forme,

The $40K turn-key figure was one that was first thrown out there when these cars were first spoken of...I agree they'll probably go higher.

I thought I read there was a limited number of them as well?
I believe I read 69.

Are you guys that do not like this for real?

Before that project, there actually was a piece or two that you could not buy new, now thats a thing of the past. I will not be buying one but good for the guys that can. :D

There wiil be 69 Hot Rod Magazine Camaros built. Jim Barber at CARS is in the business to build cars and sell the bodies as people order them. We haven't
heard that the Camaro bodies have a limited number. Demand will govern the
number that is produced. Billy

I didn't hear anything about limited either.

You know they'll sell as many of these as they can...and I think this is only the tip of the iceberg.

To All: Sorry for my misunderstanding of the re-pop Camaro, I want to see one from the General so bad that I jumped the gun. :beers:

I spoke with Jim Barber at Carlisle. They've been refining the panel fit and assembly process as they gained experience. I see this as a viable path if my vert got totaled.

Good to see lessons learned from panel fit. I'm sure the layman and most body shops will appreciate this effort.

Insurance companies will insure, at stated value agreed between owner & underwriter. Got to have proof of value -- save those receipts and time slips you filled out on your garage wall. Your personal labor does count towards agreed price sometimes, doesn't hurt to ask. But still, its up to the underwriter and owner.

But, I have my doubts as one ever being fixed rather than totalled, then it will have a savage title. Who cares? The car gets fixed, enjoyment from driving is back, and let the next owner worry about the salvage title. Really depends upon the appraisal.

Just mt thoughts, sorry, I'm rambling .............

Is the DECEMBER ISSUE at the news stands now or is this from last month? Want to get my hands on one so I can read all about it.
Just got mine a suscriber on tuesday...probably not on the stands yet but soon!

There goes the prices of the real camaro convertibles. If a kit car starts out at 40K or more what should a real camaro sale fore? I was around when this happen to 1932's and 1934 fords. 32's and 34's are twice the price for a real steel car over a look alike kit car. :clonk:
Pat
I though GM build camaro's, this is just a kit car That looks like a camaro.
