Guys
Arter putting 80% quarters and a tail panell on,now comes the fun part, filling in the repair lines.do you sand long ways with the panel or up and down?? Or sand at 45% angles? What is the best tool for this to keep the high and low spots down?
Thanks,David

At a 45 is the best and up and down will work, but its tougher if your doing it by hand. The big thing to watch out for is that you dont sand left and right that meaning, parallel with the paper. The edges of the paper will leave lines in your work be it plastic or primer.

I go left to right horizontally and on about a 45 degree angle up and down. I also had a hard time using my air file with the foam backing on it and I ended up buying another sled, removed the foam pad on it, and then glued on a piece of 1/4" plexi to it and it seemed to work better for me on large panels that were either flat or had a little bit of curvature to them.

I use an old hammer and dolly set from my grandpa from when he worked on car's back in the 1940's and 1950's. You may also find yourself making specialized tools to do a certain thing but to me the less body filler the better. Work the metal to limit how much is needed. Also try and sand across gaps and work the lips of the panel so they are even with each other.
