1969 camaro, what should I do?

I am trying to make a decision of my life here. I have owned and rebuilt this 69 camaro back in 88-now. Didnt even drive it but a couple times doen the rode and back last year due to gas prices, it gets about 6mpg, not stock. I have this guy wanting to trade me a 2000 z71 ext 3rd door 4x4 with a 2 year old western plow. Which I could really use on the 700 foot driveway. He is asking 12900 and I said I might take 15000 for mine. He jumped at it. For one did I under price my camaro? I have owned it since 88 and may have lost touch with the prices out there. Can you post pits on this site to give you a idea of what I have? Just dont want to regret this down the road.

First, welcome to the best 1st gen Camaro site.

Second, you may be out of touch with prices, which are pretty crazy.

Third, you can post photos here either by being a member or by hosting them out on the web somewhere (like www.photobucket.com ) and just posting the link.

If you want, you can email me the photos ( e_kammerer@yahoo.com ) and I'll post them up here. Also, give us the cowl tag info and the first part of the VIN (124, etc.). Once we see it and know what it is, you'll probably find out why someone is itching to give you a six year old Z71 and $2K.

It is just a 69 coupe that was built the first for months of production with the base motor of the 327-210hp. I pulled the original 327 and built a 66 327 forged crank, put new 10 1/2-1 forged pistons, with double hump 461 casting 3 angle job etc about $3000 in motor back at 1990 prices. Everything is redone to look like a SS, NOT a SS just a clone. Always like the look them. Has PG with 10" and 10 bolt 4:11 posi all new rebuilt. New fenders and Q's and bought the used SS hood to make it complete. Doors are still gm no skins.
Not a show car ,was made to sow some oats on the street while I was still younger. Now I am in my 40's it dont seem as important. But the adrenaline rush is still there when I pounce it at shift at 6500-7000 rpm.

It looks and sounds to be worth a lot more than $15K. Like Eric said, prices have been going through the roof. Do a search on eBay for 1969 Camaros and get yourself a copy of Hemmings Motor News to see what the current market looks like.

No seriously keep it man, Worst thing you can do swapping it for a truck
trucks are a dime a dozen, Camaro's are few and far between especially first gens , Let alone one that you know where its been the last 18 years please hold on to it !!!

Keep it,its already worth more than 15k and will keep going up,that truck will be worth half of what its worth now in five years.

Keep the Camaro. If you think you might regret getting rid of it now, you CERTAINLY will when it is gone.

Hey cool, another SS327! here I thought mine was the only honest one in the world!

Seriously thoguh, that car's worth half again or more of that 15k, and going up 10-15% / year with no end in sight. When that 05 hits the streets, I bet we all see a 20% instant boost, on top of the norm!

Do not trade it for a throw away truck!

Are you kidding? Do not sell the car. It will be the best investment you never made. Look around and see the interest in 69 Camaros in car magazine covers and articles, there are fewer and fewer of them around as time passes.

I almost traded mine for a new 3 seater Seadoo jetski about 5 years ago when in a moment of weakness I thought maybe it was time to let it go (The Seadoo was probably worth more then). Today my car is worth twice what it was then and the Seadoo probably half, if that. Sometimes the best decision is no.

Well let me say I think your camaro looks great and maybe some underhood detailing will make it awesome. I agree with the rest of the guys but if you really need the truck I would put the camaro on ebay with a high reserve to check out what people are willing to pay....

Thanks for the support all. I have chickened out for now. Keeping the car.
Doug g what class you running in. I went and ran street bracket once and ran a best of of 13.55 at 104 mph through the 1/4. Car dont come alive till the last 1/8 top end motor. Motor dont come alive till 4grand and the glide with no stall is killing me too, i'd guess.

Ok I had a another weak moment. Guy drove up in the truck withplow so I could look at it. Thanks goodness truck was not as nice as it was in the pits. But he said he still wants my 69. I guess when I tell him I dont want the truck and plow Maybe he will change his mind too. I wouldnt even give trade-in on this truck. Now for the new question. He ask me about the chrome pieces that run along my door glass and rear window Quarter glass. Mounted below glass on door and same on back Q-glass. Its about 1"-2" wide chrome stripes, like the 68 camaros had. Is there anybody else that has this on their 69's? Is this a 69 option? My pit on here dont show it to well, I will get a digtial pit of it up close if needed. Wondering myself, never seen it on another 69 yet.

Being this 69 was made in the first 4 months of the production run on the 69's. Could it be possible that this was chrome was used till it was no longer around? I have had the car 18 years and thats the way it was when I found it. Where can i find a option list for all 69 parts that were available for the cars. Thanks for the quick replys droptop.
