Chevys TPI is a great street system, but it is all done by 4,500. The system builds lots of torque with long runners, but doesn't take kindly to hot rodding unless you find one with an OBD2 computer. Third party is your best bet. Chevy uses Holley Commander 950 (self contained PC laptop programmable) on some of their crate engines. I personally am partial to the unit engineered by John Lingenfelter and sold by Accel as their Super Ram (which is designed for the LT-1 reverse flow engine) as it looks a lot like the old 302 cross ram.

To retrofit a TPI system correctly, be prepared to get heavily into diagnostics and theory. To do it right, you need to be able to monitor critical parameters and adjust them using an EEPROM burner etc. I think they are great systems, but a bit challenging for the average guy. I second the reference to Thirdgen.
