My grill (stock) is argent silver, typical silver trim color for a Camaro. You should clean the grill of all crud, grease, and boogers. I used a scuff pad to just clean mine up and get little boogers off the plastic. After that, I taped of the body color area and stainless trim then shot it with PPG base and clear. I like the clear for the ease of future cleaning. We flattened the shine of the clear abit so it looks right.

center grill part of RS grill should remain natural black plastic, Chrome trim line to edges must be body color, same as the outer headlight cover. If it is a black car only, I think the grill center is silver.

Paint and prep are just like any other plastic surface. Clean, sand, prime, color coat, clear coat. (for 69 only) RS grills come molded in black, therefore, you do not paint the center section (egg crate part). Then you look at the chrome ring that is bolted around the egg crate portion. Remove it. The holes for the chrome ring is your paint line for the exterior color. Paint all non-egg crate surfaces of the grill the same as the body color. RS headlight grills are a sandwich of 3 parts, inside support, chrome insert, outer cover. Remove outer cover from other 2 parts and prep and paint body color. Assemble and align headlight doors. That should do it :) Except black cars got silver RS egg crate grills.
