My car was a factory four speed and it was switched to automatic back in the seventies. It is a 68 camaro. I want to convert it back to four speed. I have a m21 out of a 67, at least I think it is a m21. At least that is what I was told. I also have the clutch/brake pedals and flywheel.

I plan to have the tranny rebuilt and buy a clutch plate. How do I know what length of speedo cable to order? Other than a Z bar and linkage kit, is there anything else I will need?

Thanks for any info.

Well what kind of A/T do you have? If its a th350 or smaller your crossmember will work if you have a th400 you'll need a 4spd. cross. Also your drive shaft will work if you have a 350 or smaller. My car was the same as yours. With the pedals still in the car etc.. Your going to need a bellhousing to fit that flywheel and clutch. The size of your flywheel will determin what size bell. I wouldnt just buy a clutch plate I would go for a whole kit release bearing and pilot bearing included. As far as the speedo I would just measure and make sure what side of the tranny your speedo plugs into. Good luck. Brad

I was told it is a Turbo400. The car was also a factory 396 switched to a 350 along the way. He told me he flipped the original big block cross member upside down when he converted to an automatic. Not sure why that worked. I have another bell housing and drivline that the previous owner gave me with the sale, hopefully it all matches up.

You asked what else you might need.... I don't know what all you have besides the trans and pedals so....
pilot bushing
bellhousing
shifter
shifter bar w/ball
clutch fork
pivot ball
transmission mount
I dont know if the driveshafts are the same length
throw out bearing

Somebody chime in with what I'm forgetting. BTW the TKO is way cool!
