can you help me determine whether my car is a true 1967 camaro rs/ss convertible big block? The car apprears pretty much original, except for engine/tranny and a few mics things
*******************************
VIN: 124677N219091

i translate this as:

chevrolet-camaro-8 cylinder-convertible-1967-norwood, ohio-aproximately 2nd week of may
*******************************
BODY: number on chassis at passenger side top of cowl

7N219091
*******************************
TRIM TAG:

05 B R
67-12667 NORxxxxx
732-Z F-1
2LS 3L
4N

i translate this as:

may-2nd week-bright blue-1967-convertible with custom interior-norwood, ohio-bright blue custom
buckets-marina blue with white top-4 speed-rear antenna-rally sport-ss 396/325 hp
*******************************
REAR AXLE:

12 bolt stamped QJ0501G2 3.07 or 3.08 posi (i posted this code under suspension and havnt quite got it resolved yet
*******************************
-vin tag appears original
-trim tag rivets appear original
-correct big block frame motor mounts (drivers side longer)
-has correct big block heater core (middle of cover)
-3/8 o.d. gas line appears original
-axle has rectangular radius rod on passenger side
-has a rear brake proportioning valve on underside near drivers door

what other checks can I make?

thank you, this is a great sight. hopefully, i'll have something to contribute in the future

Bob,
This is how I would decode your car:

1 = Chevrolet
2 = Camaro
4 = 8-cylinder engine
67 = convertible body
7 = 1967 model year
N = Norwood, OH assembly plant
219091 = vehicle serial number sequence

Decode for body number: XXXXXX

05B = Built the Second week of May.
67-12667 = Custom Interior Convertible.
NOR = Built in Norwood Ohio.
732 = Custom Bright Blue Bucket Seats.
Z = (A50) Strato Bucket Seats.
F-1 = Base Color is Marina Blue and the Convertible Top Color is White.
R = Interior paint is Bright Blue

Options:
2L = (M20 or M21) 4-speed floor shifter
2S = (U73) Antenna Manual right rear
3L = (Z22) Rally Sport Pakage
4N = (L35) SS 396

It looks to me to be correct. If you post the body number we can make sure that the trim tag falls in line with the vin#

LOL, no doubt!

That'd be the ultimate car I'd love to have though :) An RS/SS BB Vert., I don't even care about the other options at that point!

Thanks for posting that for me Kurt. I'm assuming the tag looks fine??? It took me 5 years to remove all of my wifes boxes/etc from the top of it. I have some pics of the hidden vins I'll post in the next few days if your interested. Right now me and my 13 year old son are having a good time taking it all apart. It's almost down to the bare shell. His only question is "Dad, will we be able to put it all back together?" LOL
