as bad as i hate to say it....im leaning toward no. the new rumor is that the gto is going on "hiatus." an that was supposed to be the basis for a 5th gen. i swear it seesm like gm cant get its head out of its *** these days.

there will probably never be another car called "Camaro" again- ever.
get over it and move on.
they might come out with SOMETHING rwd and V8 powered to counter the Mustang, but it will probably be named after some rare mineral or something.
as for the GTO- well, if people don't buy them- they won't keep making them. for years, everyone whined and whined about how GM didn't sell a midsize, V8 powered car. then, when they get one, people say they are ugly and slow (yeah- a mid 13 second car is slow) and that they don't look like a 67 GTO. now, i suppose if they quit making them, the same people who did nothing but complain about the car will complain because they aren't being made anymore.
what killed the F body? oh, yeah- people complained because they were overpriced and ugly and that they wouldn't own one. then they quit making them and people complained that they couldn't get an affordable new RWD performance car from GM.

am i the only one who sees a pattern in all this?

a few years ago, you COULD get a brand new 6 speed 2002 Z28 for $23k if you really wanted one and were willing to wait for it to be built- i know, i priced one at a dealer and the salesman thought i was insane for not wanting all the options. the only options i priced were the Hurst shifter and bigger tires, and it would have been a hair over $24k.
ahh, the good old days..

Every time this thread comes up I say this; GM will not remake the Camaro. Period. End of argument. Once they're done, they're done. They never re-released a Nomad, Chevelle, Nova, Vega, Chevette, etc. Why would they re-introduce the Camaro? Even if, for some bizarre reason they did, it would be a huge disappointment to (first generation) Camaro fans.

Why does this keep coming up anyway?

My $.02

Yeah, they came out with a 3 cylinder (sic) piece of crap and put the Nova moniker on it. It lasted 1 or 2 years before they pulled the embarassing heap of trash off the market. Is that what people want to see happen to the Camaro name? My bad for not remembering that thoroughly unmemorable shyt box.

There was a prototype Nomad but it's been too long since they unvailed it for GM to release it now...

Just like all the others the pic's on the Chevelle site have nothing to do with GM or Chevy...

</font>[/QUOTE]Not your fault for putting a mental block on that P.O.S., I'm suprised i didn't block it out good enough NOT to remember it...LOL

I thought the Cobalt was the "new" Camaro  . They did have commercials showing it playing ball with the new 'vette (reference: the 'vette's little brother). All you need is some stickaz, a welded on fart can plus a nice wing mounted on the trunk lid to go really fast these days anyway (oh, I forgot Chevy has the wing available as a factory option

). Plus they have the supercharged "SS" version for only $21K. Where is my wallet...? :D

(sarcasm not included)

Perhaps G.M. will take a cue from the new Ford Mustang (once again ;) ) and make a retro Camaro. In my opinion the last Camaro body style sucked. I drove one for the first time recently and was not impressed mainly cause you can barely see the hood (only big bulky windshield wipers) and there is a large bulge in the passenger floorboard. Even getting in & out of this car is a chore. No wonder sales were lacking. Hopefully someone at G.M. can get it right next time!

the 80's Nova was around for a few years, then it got re-badged as the Geo Sprint (or was it the Geo Spectrum?).
GM also brought back the Malibu, and despite it not looking like or performing lik a '70 LS6, it sells pretty well and fills the same slot as most of the Chevelles and Malibus filled when they were new and before the musclecar mythos took over- daily driver rental car beater for the everyman.
i think the Monte is one of the best looking cars on the road right now, only it is wrong wheel drive. at least you will be able to get a V8 in it pretty soon.
the Cobalt seems to me to be going after the same market as the Nova's did back in the day- most of them are just econo cars, but you can also get the fast version that is actually called an "SS" if you wanna play.
but what does GM have to fill the Camaro market?
nothing- they weren't making any money on that market, so they cut their losses and got out and directed all the marketing towards products that actually make money.
