Does anybody have a picture of the rear defrost Convertible plastic duct? I'm looking in the A-Z reference book and then I have a guy showing me another that that he says is for a 69 but looks totally different. If anybody has one or pics of one, Please send Pics to:

Ed and Bill, thank you. I would like to add this to my car, but need to locate the correct rear portion. The guy talking to me currently has it listed on Ebay. He insist the Y shaped duct that was posted on Marc's previous post is an early style and his is a true 69 unit from a 69 Convert. Is this true or is he hustling a sale? The duct is "WAY" different. I personally have never seen one in person, so I'm clueless on this RPO item
Ebay link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...motors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=4623478765&sspagename=STRK:MEWA:IT
or Item # 4623478765.

Thanks again,

Tom,

I'm not up on the 69 rear defrosters so I'll have to bow to someone more knowledgable. However, I do have a picture of that same unit at home where the guy also said it was from a 69 Camaro Convertible. The date code on the motor is 8-68, or August, 1968. Seems to me this is pretty early for 1969, but if the ebay seller's correct, when did the change take place??? I would ask the ebay seller what the date code on his motor is.

I also have another unit that looks like nither of these supposedly from a 69 Convertible. I'm not at home right now, but I'll post pictures of all the ones I have when I get home tonight if needed.

The problem here is that this is such a rare option, very few poeple are experts and every GM car from that period had a rear defroster as an option! If you do bid, have him give you a written guarantee that this will actually FIT!! It looks to me like it won't.

My thoughts exactly. Maybe one should just stay away. Looking at Marc's pic, his duct has a mounting braket as well. The one on Ebay does not. Steer me in the dirrection of somebody that has one they are willing to part with. Hey you were gonna send me pics of your 67 PC when you got it. Still waiting:) hint, hint...

Okay folks. As promised. Pretty Carol Marrill is pointing to three versions of the 69 Camaro Convertible rear Defroster assembly (plus the one Mark posted). YOU decide which is correct, but don't get zonked!!

:D

Oh yeah... Tom, was I going to buy a Pace Car???!!! Wish I had the $$$$!!

Door number 1 is from an Impala, Door number 3 is from a 69 Chevelle (coupe), door number 4 is from either a 68 or 69 Camaro (I think 69), Don't know about door number 2 but the motor might be from a corvette convert, as it had a similar blower motor setup to the Camaro version. Heres a picture of a 73 Version of the vette setup. I don't have a picture of the part above the deck so I don't know what the duct part looks like, but on this car except for the little black elbow the duct looks like it was part of the fiberglass deck:

Heres an ebay auction for Number 3:

There is no listing for a complete service part convertible rear defroster setup in the 69 P/A bock, but it does list part number 4918682 for a 68 Camaro convert, 68-69 Chevelle, (station wagon and conv.), 68 passenger (station wagon and conv), and 69 Impala (custom) and Caprice (sport Coupe) blower motor. No listing for a 69 Camaro motor though.

If anyone can find part numbers on a duct, 3923110 is from a 68-69 passenger (Chevrolet) convertible, 3923109 is from a 68-69 Chevelle convertible, 3929070 is from a 68-69 station wagon, 3940272 is from a Caprice, or Impala coupe, and 3929036 is from a 68-69 Camaro convertible. 3929037 is the blower motor mounting bracket part for a 68-69 Camaro convert. (only one with such a bracket according to the parts book, although I think the Corvette set up is similar) The Camaro convertible blower air intake screen is part number 3148663. The grille for all 68-69 Convertibles is the same and is part number 3923111. All of these numbers are service part numbers and may (will) differ from a production part number.

Hey Guys Lots of good information here but unfortunately for me, this thread was started soo long ago that none of the pictures mentioned are available anymore. Does anyone have any CURRENT pics of a 69 conv setup. I have seen several different configurations over the last few years but dont have any pictures for reference. Does the motor and duct sit inside of the well or outside. Again have seen both ways. Any Info would be appreciated...

Thanks that helps alot. :hurray: So from the pictures it appears that you need to modify the seat back to accept the motor assy. That was the part that I couldn't understand. Been trying to mock it up for 2 weeks now and couldn't see any way to make it work without putting a hole in the seat support. I have also seen pictures where the blower inlet grill is inside the well cover. These pics dont show that to be correct. Are there actually 2 different configurations that apply to the 69? Early-Late?

Here is the grill mounted through the well into the car.

Hey Dave thanks for posting since the eBay photo links are all dead in this thread. Do you have a shot of the other end too to post. :)

That picture of the grille thru the well above doesn't seem correct for a 69. The hole flame cut thru the trunk support is for the fan motor to stick thru, and the air intake grille is in the trunk. The 69 fan output grill in the well is a rectangular piece about 12" by 2" that sits right behind the top of the rear seat. This picture is missing that circular grille over the intake, but this is the trunk side of the blower.

This is the motor end that fits thru the hole cut in the seat support.
