Now we know (what may be) the real story. Charlie told Boyd about his decision and Boyd felt betrayed........Charlie went to "the competition". Charlie left Coddington to save himself and reconnect with his wife. Boyd made it seem like Charlie shot him in the heart. Coddington needs to examine himself. Good luck Charlie and do what is right for you.

Hi ! I agree with all you guy's... Boyd is an arrogant fool in my book. I know they may be trying to make a TV show interesting, but at what cost ? Anyone that watches last nights show would never have Boyd do work for them. If it is all an act, they better be paying Boyd well, because he's losing customers !
I have worked for A hole's that act like boyd act's on this show , if it is a script then yes they better be paying him well he will lose customer's , and I am yet to see him turn one bolt

I guess Boyd is Laurence Olivier. Next he'll be doing Broadway. He's not that good.. He's definitely TYPE cast. Remember when he Cried " I'm the guy!" I realize it is TV, and it is manipulated, but I'm not naive enough to think Boyd is a good guy.
Hey Derrick, I'm with you man, Charlie must have been banging more than dents in the 'body shop' Jo was a little too upset about his departure and the 'hey Babe' and arm around the shoulder to the private 'off-camera' cry fest was a little too much. This has got to be a soap opera.

American Hot Rod is a 1 hour program. Probably 12 minutes of commericals, 18 minutes of actually working on cars, and 30 minutes of scripted TV drama. I'm waiting for the eposide where Duane gets TKO'd.

I used to work at a custom/resto shop in NJ that reminds me a lot of Boyds shop(minus the wheels) The owner was the same way. Arrogant a-hole. He thought he was a Foose or a Boyd. Awesome facility. Employees were as talented as all get out and built some award winning cars.He treated them (us) like crap,work late,work Saturdays, and he took all the credit. The day i walked out was the happiest day of my life. When i watch AHR its like a walk down memory lane. I feel for those guys, and i know how Charlie feels, probably like the weight of the world was lifted off his shoulders.

I talked to Boyd at a good guys meet in Indianapolis a few years ago when I was around 14. I was in the only area of the bar that they would let me into at 14 while my dad and his buddies got some drinks. I was watching the lakers vs. pacers NBA finals game and talking to him and his wife. He seemed like a nice guy. I had no idea who he even was until my dad came to get me and whispered under his breath, "That's Boyd Coddington!" I don't know how he is around the shop, but i know that he's not always the arrogant puke that the show portays him to be.

Boyd sure made a bigger *** of himself. He has got to realize that life is too short to hold grudges (Fooose). Duane actually said something that made sense. Loan him to Foose for 6 weeks and let him come back. Boyd says No, we'll be OK.

I think Charley should have talked to Jo first and she might have been able to help work a deal with Boyd.
Just an after thought...maybe Charley doesnt really want to come back after painting the car for Chip.

I think the "bangin" is out of line guys. In the show, the comment was made, by Boyd, that Charlie had lived with him and Jo for several years. I think they are just good friends and Jo was really surprised. Boyd, on the other hand, scripted or not, came off as one "biggie size" jerk. From what I can glean from the show and Charlie's posts (at the other site), Charlie is in California and his wife is still in Idaho. He travels to see his wife and the deadlines are seriously eating into his weekend travel time. As any other person, Charlie must do what is best for him. It seems he gave Boyd 6 to 8 of his best years and you all saw how Boyd said goodbye. Calling him a traiter, going to the devil. Boyd just proved what he is, a A-1 jerk. If Foose is the devil, sign me up. Charlie even told Boyd he wanted to stay to finish the next "project" and Boyd told him to leave. I am happy for Charlie and wish him well. Boyd will survive. After all sequels are in now. "THE JERK II", starring Boyd Coddington and Steve Martin. Mans soap or not, pass teh peanuts.
