A friend stumbled across a one owner 69 Camaro (the old gentleman bought it in 69 for his wife who recently passed away). It is dark maroon (original paint) with a white vinyl top and delux white interior. It has a floor shift P/G tranny and 210 HP 327. 48,000 original miles . . .

Anyway, the car has never been in an accident, and has been garaged since 69 -- it's super straight. There's just a few little door dings and a little surface rust around the rear quarters. Same underneath -- surface rust on floor boards and frame but nowhere close to having any rust holes.

All the original paperwork comes with the car, vinyl top is near perfect. Drum brakes all around and it still has bias ply tires on it from the 1970's LOL. The engine runs pretty good for sitting so long, just leaks oil as I'd expect. No smoke.

My friend agreed to pay $7k for the car . . . a steal or not?

Just curious what you guy's opinion on the car is.

A friend of mine just bought a similar non-RS driver for $6K (Original 307/T350). It sounds like your friend's car is in a bit better shape. I haven't been in the market for awhile, but it sounds like a very good deal to me....maybe even better than very good!

So....how long do you figure it'll be before there's a 383 in it?

I think that's exactly what he was thinking. Although his wife is getting attached to it quickly . . . could wind up being a keeper.

PAULM -- this one is too bone stock for a 383 ;) It will probably get detailed underneath and in the engine compartment, then the motor gone through and new gaskets to stop the leaks.

The body we're up in the air on -- probably will try to touch up and buff out the paint, if that doesn't fly then it will get repainted bone stock.

I'd buy for 7k right now, not a doubt in my mind. How many unmolested survivor RS cars can be left out there anymore? At 48,000 miles, if it's well documented, he can probably double that investment with a little clean up/detailing and proper marketing.

it is a good deal and might I say that 69 car's sell higher than 67 68 (although I don't understand this) I love a 69 RS I owned 1 69 it was not a RS if it had been I may have kept it ,,, hopefully by the time you read these replies the car is already in the driveway ,,,,
go get it !!!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, they must have still sold the lo-po 327 in 69. says 327 210 HP right on the air cleaner. I thought they started putting in 307's in 69 . . .

My friend wound up buying the car for $7k and its now sitting in his driveway.

Headlights aren't working but all the original hardware is there and unmolested. I think the headlights are the only thing not working on the car.
