Hi,

I know that front shoulder belts are a pretty rare option. Our 69 has a standard interior so should I assume that they are the standard shoulder belts? or could you have ordered the custom deluxe ones? If so how to tell the difference? This 69 sure has a lot of options for a 307.

69 coupes all left the factory with front shoulder belts. They became a mandatory option on 1/1/68 halfway thru the 68 model year due to DOT requirements. Convertibles were never required to have them, and front (and rear) shoulder belts remained an option. Standard belts have plastic buckle covers, deluxe belts have polished steel covers. You could order deluxe belts with either the standard or deluxe interior packages.

OK, I got my information from "camaro restoration guide 1967- 1969" by Jason Scott. On page 280 is where I got the shoulder belt info. I guess I'm reading it incorrectly. Will someone please educate me on what I read? It say Standard front should belts then I go over to 1969 model year and it says they cost 23.20 and Production was 47. What are they refering to? I don't want to make anymore wrong assumption. It makes me feel stupid. Thanks.

Your looking at RPO AS1, which for the 69 model year applied to convertibles only. There should be a note in the table that says it was included in all coupes after Jan 68. RPO AS4 (37) and AS5 (78) are the rear standard and deluxe shoulder belts, and RPO A85 (922) is the deluxe front shoulder harness, all of which applied to convertibles only in 69.
