This one has me stumped.Whats a 68 convertible worth with a good running big block and t-400 trans. Its got a 10 bolt posi. P/S, P/drum brakes, new dual exhaust, new 70 chevelle SS style wheels & new BFG's ,all original deluxe blue interior needing a makeover, Dark blue paint is a little weak but a great 10 footer, power top doesnt work, but in good shape, cowl hood/rear spoiler. The car runs and drives nice but needs a little tlc.The floors were done and the trunk is original and pretty decent. I can buy the car for 19k before it hits ebay.It sounds a little high to me but i dont follow the 67-68's values much. The car was an original v-8 car. Todays million dollar question is....... is 19k too high.

thanks

68 camaro verts are fairly rare with 16,927 made, about the same as the 1955 t-bird with 16,155 made. thats even rarer then a 69 Z/28 with about 20.000 made. someday any camaro vert will be collectable....Buy it.

I still think I have a ebay link to a very nice 68 vert that was on ebay that did not sale. I have no clue why, but that is ebay. If im not mistaken, the auction ended at 13k which was way low for the car in myhumble opinion. It had a buy it now of 17K.
let me see if I can still find the link. Yall might talk to the owner and see if he still has the car. Id love to have it myself, but timing is not right.
Well I do not have the link.
It may turn up on ebay again.
Its a 68 vert that was painted the famous sunset orange metallic.
I am thinking that it had a 383, but I could be wrong.
Car was very nice, new seat covers (deluxe interior) and it had 8 inch cragers all the way around the car, and if memory serves me, it the car was in arkansas.

If its a west coast car in decent shape 19k is a steal, but being NJ really depends on what's under that paint. I am still amazed at difference when I crawl under some original east coast cars, yikes.

Regardless, its really hard to go wrong with Convertibles, they only seem to get more rare.

Took me about 9 months to find nice driver on the west coast. I got scooped on two others, before I finally found my current one. As good convertibles sell very fast, if priced reasonable.

I was able to find my 68 'vert in the Great Lakes area. On close inspection, the floors and rockers were shot. The engine was rebuilt as was the transmission and I drove it up onto the trailer. There was some previously repaired (bondo) rust damage on the forward rear quarters. Other than that, the body was good to go. Normally I'd shy away from a car with floor/rocker damage to this extent, but I was able to talk the owner down to 4k because no one wanted to buy it. 2k in parts and about four in labor, I'm into it about 10, but the car is probably worth at least 15 now. My moral, if you can get a fair price, even a rusty car can bring you out on top. I don't ever plan on selling my car, but I do like to know where I stand when it comes to it's value. My .02.

Thanks for the input guys, If i had to rate this car 1-10 it would probably be a 7.
It needs to be restored if its to be a really nice car, or leave it as is for a really decent driver. All it really needs is seat covers/carpet/door panels and it would really be a pretty decent car. Its caught right in the middle of price and condition.I have no ambition or money to restore it, But re-do the interior, detail it up a bit, Drive it for a month or so and sell it, is my thoughts. What scares me the most is ive seen some seemingly nice 67-68 convertibles in the 20-25k range. That doesnt leave much room. But then again it is a big block convertible, not original but a big block none the less. I remember when these cars were $3500 and that was a lot of money :clonk:

with fall carlisle and englishtown coming up if you can get it and fix everything before those two shows you will have a mass amount of people walking past your car for sale. Always a good place to sell a car.

I bought my '68 vert on ebay last Dec for 4k. It was a plain jane 6banger that had a 305 in it. It ran but wasn't road worthy. It needs a floor, 1 rocker, 1 door, windshild, hood and a total restoration. A restoration was started and I got all of the trim, seats, etc in boxes. It is nothing special (other then it is a vert) but I think I got a good deal. I'm planning on doing all the labor myself and I figure I'll have another 12-15k into it when I'm finished. This includes a rebuild 350.

I've said that about 172 times in the last 25 years :beers:

Yeah, I said that about my '69 about 5 years back, but sold it instead of watching it rot away in the Michigan Winter (no place to store it). However, since I've been searching for the car I have now for well over 5 years, I'll think I'll do my best to keep it. Only time will tell though. Snap up the rusty ones now while the're cheap! When they're the only ones left unrestored, their prices will skyrocket. I'd rather have a first gen rusting in my backyard than in someone elses!

Ezeglen you have any pictures of what a 4k car looks like. Thats a great deal
No pics yet. I've been doing all of the documentation for the resto with my video camera. The guy had it on ebay for 3 times and it never reached the reserve and the was tired of trying to get rid it it. Sad story, he bought it to fix up with his teenage son. But after 9/11 happened he went to NY to volunteer with the clean up and ended up getting lung cancer. He is on consistent oxygen so he couldn't do the work on it. The only thing I was disappointed about was that it was advertised with a 350 and after I decoded it it was a 305. I would have bought it anyway. I'll be posting pics of my progress along with thanks for all the help I've gotten and will be getting from this board in the coming months (maybe years). This is an awesome resource.

Nice 67-68 Convertibles typically go for more than 20-25k...especially with a big block in them.
