Please help, Vin-124379n609223, tr 711, 72bpnt,02d,x11 trans is matching, engine code is vo218HQ and the block casting is 3970010 (B69)
Heads are 3927186 ( L228 )
Can this be a true 300 HP car from feb with HQ build ? It does have disc brakes, 12 bolt, dual exhaust plate in drivers wheel well, I have more numbers, But still can not see anything by the filter.(spent Hours). Thanks, *******

Doesn't look like it.

HQ is the suffix for an LM1, 255 HP 350 with manual trans. According to CRG, the switch from LM1 to the L65 350 happened in February, so this appears to be an LM1 car.

My LM1 is Oct 68 build car with automatic TH350, it has heads 3932441 with J code Oct. to match the block date. My car is a LOS built car too. Im not sure about 3927186 heads and they look like Dec. units, (L) pretty far ahead of your Feb build to be original but lets see what others say too. If your car is a Feb build 02, then its not likely its an LM1 since they quit making that engine in Dec. of 68. Can you find the partial VIN on the engine block behind the alternator? It might not be the original engine.
LM1 info. is here

It's not too relevant that the dates are close. They stoppped putting the LM1 in the Camaro on 1/1/69. As long as the engine code is truly HQ, that's not the original block.
An LM1 cannot be an SS. But your car still may be an SS, just w/o its original engine.

1 or 2 fuel lines?

No my LM1 didnt come with factory dual exhaust, so that plate is not on my rear frame rail. Mine is automatic tranny too. If you can see the area above the oil filter, there is a vertical area of rough casting that some engines had the partial VIN stamped there instead of the pad behind the alternator. Its VERY hard to see with the engine in the car but the partial VIN might be there. If not, it should be on the deck extension behind the alternator. If the block was decked and the partial VIN scraped off, then the VO218HQ would have been scraped off too. Without knowing if that engine is the original one or not, its anyone's guess if the car was an SS to start with. If it has dual fuel lines it could be an SS but in Feb. they didnt make the LM1 anymore so that engine probably isnt orignial to the car.

If the suffix is HQ, and it's an original stamp, what else could it be? The only other HQ I see is a 65 327 application.

The CRG RPO spreadsheet is where I found the language about LM1 being discontinued circa February 69. Could it be that cars ordered on or before 12/31/68 could get RPO LM1, and just not be built until Feb?

Since they didnt put LM1's in camaro after 1/1/69, its possible its an LM1 from a full size car such as Impala, Caprice etc. The B69 could be the forge date for the LM1 that went into another car first, then ended up in your car later. Thats just my guess and 2 cents worth. :) as Kurt asked, how many fuel lines are there ?
