I plan to build a q-jet carb for my 69 vert this winter to replace the holley on it now. The engine is the original 327 block .030 over with forged flat top pistons, original cast crank and all was balanced by a machine shop. It has 64cc heads not sure what casting valve covers are still on it. it is the newer style head with the quench area by the plug hole and 194 intake and 150 exhaust valves with the acc holes in the heads. Cam is a 350 hp 327 chevy grind cam with 1.5 rockers and a recurved dist with a pertronic 2 installed. Currently have a turbo 400 trans in it but plan to install a 2004r in the near future with a 3.73 posi 12 rearend. The car has the stock exhaust manifolds with stock type exhaust with transverse muffler.
I have a square bore intake on it now and need to buy a spread bore one.
I can't decide between the edlbrock performer or the performer RPM Q-Jet.
What do you guys think? The engine revs strong to 6000 rpm the performer is rated idle to 5500 and the rpm 1500 to 6500 rpm. I am going to the q-jet because i am more familer with them and a think they are a better street carb than a holley but also I think it will make the engine look more stock and that is the look I am going for.
