I've got a 69 hugger orange camaro. It is a vay nuys car built in the first week and first month of 69. I know where I can get a 427 with a rock crusher 4spd out of a 69 model passenger car and I'm told it has the same period date code as my car. My car is a non x code car and it is a V-8 car. would my car be worth more with this 427 4spd or with somthing else. would someone want to clone it as a copo,yenko,Z28 or SS. Or should I just not worry about it. Id think it would be awful hard to nail down a matching motor like this no more than 50miles from my house. My car did come with a console and a 4spd and it has a single 3/8 fuel line but thats all I know right now. Any ideas please

For starters, none of the Van Nuys cars had an X code. Without paperwork or some serious detective work, it would be hard to tell what your car was originally. Personally, I'd get the 427 and rock crusher unless the price was out of line. Be careful to check that it is actually a rock crusher transmission before shelling out the big bucks for it. Most people think just because they've got a Muncie that it is a rock crusher. Also, just because this 427 is dated close to the build date of your car, it will not make it "numbers matching". The ONLY way for your car to be numbers matching is if it has the original motor/transmission that the car was built with. Period. Good luck!

Thanks for the info boys its not my intent to fool anyone out there. My only thought is if someone wanted to build a clone car and showed it as such. It would be a original looking clone say copo, yenko etc. They are the only ones which came out with a 427 as far as my new to camaros knowledge goes. I do understand and respect the numbers matching cars as I am working on a 100 percent numbers matching 2 owner car. A red 68 firebird conv. 4spd 400. Personally I think the best thing to do with my car is stick a 572/620 in it that would mean more than a 427 any way

*I* would get the 427 and make your own "tribute" car

unless the price for the 427 is out of bounds, it would also make a better selling point (and one to be negotiated out if necessary) if you ever plan to sell the car ...

Heck, if it is a real 427 you might even be able to flip IT and make some $$$

I personally would do the deal and make the tribute car

I think they are cool with the dog dish hub caps
