Interviewing for a job with Paragon Corvette Reproduction Parts on Monday! May not be the right model, but you know what? It's a job and I get to keep my car. I have applied for 40+ jobs since September, from everything to office manager to gas station clerk to Walmart cashier. Guess that tells you what the job market is like in good ole Michigan...Wish me luck.

Paragon is a first-class operation in my opinion. Although I own Camaros, anything I can get from them I get -- dated clamps, dated R-59 batteries, silk-screening of air cleaner lids, dating of side glass, correct air filters, the list goes on. They ship whatever way you prefer, UPS or USPS Priority. I don't know what it's like working there but I've always had a good experience dealing with them. Their website, especially the search function, could stand improvement though.

Good luck! Know what you went through.

Thanks guys! Now, what to wear? The suit or the "work on the car" clothes?? Just kidding....should prove interesting though. I am not good with interviews and stuff. Why should they hire me? What do I like about myself? What are my best qualifications? I can't blow my own horn. I'm no good at it.

Why should they hire you? Because your Love cars talk, Your willing to learn anything, a hard worker and willing to do what ever it takes to get the job done.

Just go in and be yourself and give honest answers to the questions you will do find.

I agree with Dennis, I have interviewed tons of people and with most of them ,you can tell if its a fit after 5 minutes or not, just dress well, be polite, smile, and try not to say too much with each answer, sometimes that works against people. If they crack a joke, show them you have a sense of humor, and most of all....relax and be yourself...good luck...

Remember, not too much information. I have interviewed about 150 people in my life. I am amazed at how many times I learn things I wish I had never known about someone.

Try to refain (imo) from saying you are a "people person" as a means of conveying why they should hire you. They will get that from you during the interview. That has always hit my last nerve.

They may ask you about a time when you made a mistake, and what you did to fix it. They may ask you about a time you received critical feedback, and how you handled it. They may ask you about something "you" think needs improvement, as it relates to you as a person.

In my last interview, this was the line of questioning. Be honest and you will be fine.

Congrats, and good luck.

I do all the interviewing and hiring for my company. Here's a couple of things I look for:
  1. "Are they just a job seeker, or do they know anything about my company?" If you haven't already, do a bit of research an find out what you can about the current condition of the company... then explain how you can be of a benefit to them.
  2. Smile, don't "apologize" for being nervous, and listen with intentto the questions the interviewer asks.
  3. Before you walk into the interview be 100% POSITIVE - confidence is something that can transfer to the person who is interviewing you.
  4. If you want to ask them a question, get permission... "Do you mind if I ask you a question?" I have sat through too many interviews where I felt like I was the one being interviewed. I appreciate someone wanting clarification, and I am happy to provide it. I just don't want to feel like I am on trial for offering a position.
We look forward to a  --- pulling for you.
