I got that for a coupe and $250K for the ragtop on Nada but ... reasearch shows only 29 440 six pack ragtops in 1970. There are 1970 Cuda coupes listed in Hemings for as much as $450K so that blows Nada out of the water for pricing.

I'll be the 1st to agree a cool mil and change for a car that needs a restoration is  but in todays world where you can pay $10K a night for a room at the Fairmont Hotel in San Francisco, and there are folks that don't blink. Which would you rather spend your green on? 3 months in a hotel in SF or that Ragtop Cuda?

Dennis, I'd rather have the cuda...:clonk:

The mopar stuff is going for incredible scratch. The thing I don't get is there seems to be "rare" mopars popping up all over. Maybe I am just hearing about all of them? Then next week the B-J auction starts. There will be more hemi cars than you can count if last year was any indication. Last year during B-J at the Pavillions cruise there were more hemi and 440-6 mopars than I could count. And those cars weren't the auction cars.

If we would have only known THAT CHRYSLER WOULD SURVIVE, even if the Germans own them.
Back in those days, their products didn't sell for a REASON. They weren't very good. Now the collector crowd treats them as if they were the greatest, just like a postage stamp.

Muscle Car
1970 Plymouth Cuda 2 Door Convertible (440-4bbl)
Note: Engines listed in parenthesis after model: Do not add for engine in option section. (i.e. 2 Door Sdn (440) - includes the 440 engine.) Did I input something wrong? I came up with 134K

Muscle Car
1970 Plymouth Barracuda 2 Door Convertible (318)

Hi Marc - I really don't know but since the 440 six pack was not one of the engines shown with the model listing in parenthesis I assumed you had to add it. Can you imagine about 100k because of a carb difference? This is one of those cases NADA isn't reflecting market on the car at $150K or at $250K... I know on some cars it seems higher than market, go figure...

While I won't email him to tell him he's a moron, he surely thinks someone is if he is planning to get what he wants for that car. Now, that being said, wouldn't he have to be pretty stupid to sell a car for 600,000+ if the car is worth 2,000,000 with only a 100,000 dollar resto on it???? He's either stupid, or a liar, or both. No one in their right mind sells a car for half of the "claimed" value if it will only cost 100,000 to make it worth 2,000,000.

I know that a guy or company can put up whatever they want in hopes of finding some dumb sucker, but this guys acts as if he is doing someone a favor, and we all know that just does not happen.

I'm just glad it's a mopar. I really enjoy tinkering on old cars but $500,000-1,000,000 would just take the fun out even if I had the money to blow.

500,000, I'd spend on more land (I'd buy the neighbor's house and flatten it, I'm tempted now), a bigger shop, more concrete, better tools, a savings account for the increased taxes and maintaince, 2 more basketcases and NOS parts.

This isn't to say it isn't worth that, it just isn't worth it to me.

Couldn't have said it better! :)

Kinda like the guys trying to sell their overpriced ebay cars with no takers stating, " this car could easilly bring $$$$$$$$$$$ at Barrett Jackson....." Ok. Why don't you take it to BJ and make all that money for yourself.

$711,000...Bidding has ended...Reserve not met. Man i would have a tough time turning down an offer of $711,000 for that car if i owned it.

I still say he is money ahead to restore it for 100,000 (his claim) and sell it for two million (his other claim). Why take 711,000 when you can get two million.

Craig....maybe he didn't. Like has been said, hold the reserve to an unreal amount and see how high it goes. His fingers may be blazing on a keyboard at this moment with a "second chance offer". I wouldn't (couldn't) pay that for it either, but if there are truely only 29 ever built, than it is a rare car indeed. None of the "desirable" 60's-70's muscle cars are worth the money they bring. This hobby has been taken out of the hands of the middle class enthusiast for many years now by the "investment" crowd. Many of these people don't buy them to drive and enjoy....they are just looking at the profit potential like a hot stock and that sucks for us who own them out of passion.:noway:

Maybe he got it for 250k....why wait a year or more and spend 100k on a resto when you can make 500+k on a sale now ??

Like I said above....these things turnover like a hot stock....buy low..sell high....take your profit and run. Let the next guy worry about the resto.

Make 500K, or a million? Hmmm, what would I do? I could see if the difference were 25,000 or so. We are talking about half a million dollars. He could pay someone 200,000 to restore it, and still clean up. I think the basic issue here is that the car simply isn't worth what he claims it is. That really is my issue with the guy's claims. Anyway, he still owns it. So, I expect to see this one surface again. :)
