Thanks in advance. Almost finished with my 69 Z-28 restoration and would like to put the most correct bias ply Repo tires on it. Some books say the Firestone E-70-15 Wide Oval Sport Car 200 and other books say the Goodyear E-70-15 Speedway widetread GT. Which would you guys recommend and any ideas on the best place to buy them ?? Thanks Team Camaro

I have the original spare in my trunk. It's a Firestone Sport Car 200. It looks really cool. Interesting thing is most everyone goes with the Good Years. But the Widetread and the Sport Car 200's are 100% correct.
I like the idea of the Firestones myself because know one puts these on their Z's. Its kind of like seeing a restored Z with a flat hood, everone goes with a cowl hood....
Coker sells the Firestones, the Good Year's are a lot easier to find.

Thanks very much. Classic Industries has the Firestone Sport Car 200's and do claim them original for the 69 Z-28. It just seems like everyone else is using the Goodyears. They both look period correct and very cool.

Jim, The Goodyear or Firestone tires has been discussed heavily before, do a search in Wheels and tires, punch in Goodyear Tires.
Hope This Helps.

the firestone sports car 200 are very nice looking tires.. they are not your everyday tire. i like to be different.

flat hood also........

Back in the day a friend had a very late production '69 Z/28 with SC200s. In 1970 or so one tire was damaged requiring replacement. Firestone dealers did not handle them-they had to be purchased through a Firestone Racing Division store. Even in those days an odd low-production tire.

My compliments to you for putting OE tires on the car. Modern tires ruin the look of a vintage musclecar.

Jim,

Did you buy your tires yet? I am going to be purchasing a set here in the next couple of weeks and am really trying to decide on the Wide Treads or the SC 200's...

My Oct. 68 built Norwood Z came with Good Years. I have a picture from 1970 of the car that clearly shows them so that's what I went with. Got them from Classic Industries.

They drive as biased ply tires drive. If I did much driving with it I would certainly change them for something better.

I drive the car a little on the weekends. The farthest I might go would be 15-20 miles from home. This would be on a rare occasion...

Would these tires be ok for that in your opinion?

Thanks!

In my opinion musclecars need these type tire to look right.

Now I just have to decide on the SC 200's or the Wide Treads????
I have the original spare in the trunk that is a SC 200. BUT I like the look of the GY's more. I wish I knew which tire was better.... There has to be an answer to that question somewhere.

The Z we just finished up is a flat hood car with SC 200s

The SCs arent repos, but mint originals. Needless to say, I had had enough after driving it about 100 yds
