We're doing great things up here in Detroit. Quit letting investors and media conglomerates sell you on the idea that you shouldn't buy American. People don't realize....if we go away....this country is going to be in a world of hurt. We need everyones support, not criticism.
Baseball, Hot dogs, Apple pie and Chevrolet!!! :hurray:

In the spring when the lease ends on the Honda, I promise to check out the Chevys available. :thumbsup:

People need to understand that we are fighting a stigma more than we are fighting surperior car companies. Jason, you just mentioned that a Honda is looking good to you the next time around and that we are out of touch and aren't giving the public what they want. You're fueling the stigma by making comments like that. Lets take a closer look at some of our top vehicles and you decide if we are really out of touch.......

Don't like the concept, but I don't think GM will go bankrupt anytime soon. I hope they improve their product and prosper for the employees sake. I'll keep my first gen. and am satisfied with it. As for "other" cars, We're looking at different sports and muscle cars. The Mustang is only slightly on the radar. The Challenger is great looking, but I trust Dodge as much as I trust GM right now, so that's not gonna happen.

The funny thing about the recall story above; I'd still be a loyal GM customer if GM had MORE recalls.

Well, GM sold Allison, the fire sale continues! Another profitable division goes down the tubes.

SOUTHFIELD, Michigan: General Motors has agreed to sell its Allison Transmission unit to the buyout firms Carlyle Group and Onex for $5.6 billion as GM, the largest U.S. automaker, raises cash to pay for employee buyouts and plant closings.

The sale does not include a Baltimore factory that builds hybrid-electric transmissions, GM, based in Detroit, said Thursday. Allison last year had sales of about $2.2 billion and an operating profit of $338 million.

...........) quality reports of GM products. Their quality numbers are way up.
Honda and Toyota have this public perception of being far superior to the US Automakers, but when you take a closer look, they are not.

..........
One difference is resale. Check what a Camry is worth at 7 years old. I wish GM was equal in all ways. I have had several repairs on the wife's 2000 Camry.

I drive a Colorado. The head had to come off under warranty to have a proper valve job. Seems the factory has a flaw it doesn't care to fix. All manufacturers have these problems. How about BMW. One of the worst customer satisfaction ratings from what I understand.

IMO resale has quite a bit to do with the public perception issue I stated.
While it keeps the resale prices down for those who like to buy nice used cars, it does affect people who take that into consideration in making their new car purchase. It is a huge issue with many facets.

Well, I feel much better now. Let's see:

Because I don't work for GM I can't possibly understand that GM is really in GREAT financial shape, people are buying everything they make as fast as they can make 'em.

The REAL reason I don't like the new Camaro is the media.

OOOOOO...K

Yeah......that's pretty much it. Thanks for summarizing.

No problem. I find that summarizing really helps some people understand.

I find that facts are sometimes useful too:

General Motors Corp. July 2007 U.S. Auto Sales

* Car and light truck sales down 18.5 percent after adjusting for sales days (320,935 units)
* Year-to-date sales down 9.4 percent
* Inventories at month-end: 940,000 units, roughly flat from year earlier
* Cars/trucks: Cars down 23 percent/light trucks down 16.4 percent * Market share: 23.9 percent
* Key vehicles: Chevrolet Impala down 16.5 percent, Chevrolet Malibu down 45.1 percent, Chevrolet Silverado down 26.4 percent, Chevrolet Tahoe down 7.9 percent, GMC Sierra down 27.9 percent.

The car looks great. Saw it on the power tour. I gotta have one.
I'm hearing that more and more. I really hope they sell well and I'm getting tired of seeing all these new Mustangs running around without any competition!:)

I saw one this July at the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Minneapolis , and it looks a whole lot cooler more intimidating in real life than it does in pictures. Man did it draw a crowd.
