Rick, I am going to order the P-22 parts too, after getting a 2nd opoinin about my inner rockers (they were gone!) I will let you know how it goes.

Arno, Rick is correct, based on the pic it is not the inner "Z" rib. And what Rick's told you that the coupe and convertible was the same part that the seatbelt bolted too was incorrect also. That's why there are 2 different sill wire covers, 1 for convert and 1 for coupe.

Ho boy, so I'm back to nada for a repro fix for my inners on the 68 rag. How different are these parts. Like could I at least use sections or is the contour totally different? I'll have to drive over to my buuy's and look cause I can't get a claer picture.

Arno

The fellow who did my 'inners' had no problem fabbing the repairs. It was a pretty straightforward 'z' bend. KevinW has posted some great pics that should show up on a search. They were very helpful in understanding the rocker construction.

I sent them a sketch to verify part is most inner of all rocker panels. It is about 63" longand 1.5" deep and has a stamped recess for the seat support and the seat belt weldnut. In my rag the panel is made of 0.110" thick steel.

I'll post result.

I got a FAX back from The Paddock and am waiting for Rick's to do same. This is the innermost part that the floor welds onto. Paddock claim the p22 panel is stamped like the original but only 1/16th thick. The rag panel is 0.110" thich so almost 1/8th thick. Looks like they are repro'd for the coupe and they sell it for rags as a "will fit". The catalog photos suck. Anyone used these inner rockers??

There is a guy making them for rags but they don't have the stamping for the seat support etc. so it is easier to make one of this kind but I want the original shape.

The P22 I bought, now discontinued, was not thin by any stretch of the imagination. Did they mean the new ones, though, as P22 was the old part #.

I spoke to the order desk at Ricks part (PP22) and Paddock (saw the part) and both claim the part is the inner most panel that has the seatbelt hole. Paddock said it was 1/16" thick metal which is thinner than the rag part which is 0.110" or close to 1/8". They claim it has a waist where the seat support goes. All said this ain't the rib panel after all.

Rick what was the fit like on yours? Was a waist there or not?

I also fear the ladies are right.....size...it this case Thickness does matter!!!

I'm still confused - slow I guess. There was no 'waist' on mine. It was the original P22 and it was not 1/16" thick. More like 1/8. It was at least as sturdy as the original metal. I assume they are describing and, you saw, the 'new' replacements - P22R/L? The fit on mine was good but like all pieces, required trimming in the front/rear to fit the contours it was welded too. All in all, a good replacement. It's a shame if they have made these new ones thinner. If they are indeed coupe pieces, do yourself a favor and have them made. You don't want to skimp on this structural piece.
