Since alot of us also like to dabble with the grille or even in the kitchen, as the colder temps approach, I like to make stews. What do you like to cook up for the family? Lets see who has a touch of gormet' in their blood.

This is my venison stew. Small chops or steaks on the bottom of the crock pot. Layer over the top of them:
cut onions, green peppers, mushrooms, water chestnuts, carrots, celery and anything else you want to toss in :D
Include the juices from the waterchestnut and mushroom cans.
Now pour a single can of regular Coke over the top of it all and let it cook on LOW for 6 hours. Presto, dinner is done.
Whatcha think? :)

pizza doesnt count Harley :D

That venison stew looks delicious Jim
I don't have much luck with Crock-pots. I usually end up with luke-warm vegetables and meat ...

Sunday night, for football watching, was Carnitas (pork) tacos & Pacifico's :beers:
Last night was beef & cheese Enchiladas - two pans, one for dinner and the other to freeze for later.
Looks like 'left-overs' tonight as both have plans to be home late.
Planning Crab & Corn Chowder for Friday night, supposed to cool off (you know - down into the 50's :D ) so we need some 'stick to your ribs food' ...
Got a couple Pork Tenderloins yesterday and the're marinating in a Garlic, Sesame and Lemon (Asian influence) sauce for Sat or Sun BBQ.

I love to cook.
Wife and I trade off every other night or so on dinner - who ever cooks then the other does the dishes

I love to cook. I just bought a pressure cooker and I'm experimenting with using it. I've made black beans and oxtail soup so far.

My dinner today is chicken breasts on wild rice with pureed sweet potatoes.

As we had are first taste of fall here in the Sacramento Valley this past weekend. My kids begged me to make my Chicken and Dumplings on Sat. Which I have told them is only a cold weather dinner. Other than that........I could have fried and egg on my head when I was almost T-boned by a red light runner on my way to work this morning.

I make great ribs, these are the best I've ever had. I've had the recipe for years. If you want to try it, here it is:

Cut 3 lbs. Of ribs into 3 rib pieces and put in roasting pan

Combine in bowl:
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. sugar
1/8 tsp. turmeric
1/8 tsp. paprika
1/8 tsp. celery salt
1/8 tsp. black pepper
Sprinkle this mixture onto ribs

Combine in bowl:
1 cup ketchup
3/4 cup water
½ cup minced green peppers
½ cup minced onions
1/3 cup vinegar
1/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tbsp. worcestershire sauce
1 ½ tbsp.. garlic
1 tsp. dry mustard
½ tsp. Tabasco sauce
½ tsp. Salt
1/4 tsp. Basil
1/4 tsp. Black pepper
Sprinkle onto ribs

Bake at 325 for 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes. Turn after 1 hour. After 2 hours, reduce heat to 300, and bake another 30 minutes. Serves 4-6 people.

With this recipe, you bake them in the oven. They come out kinda soft and not crispy, but they fall right off the bone. If you like them crispier, just take them out of the oven 1/2 hour earlier and finish them up on the barbecue. Try this recipe....you won't be disappointed!!!

This works for us too ! we both love cooking and have just (about) finished the kitchen reno. (still have to finish the tile around the counters)

With both of us working, we have been experimenting with the crock-pot with limited success.
Wife usually does the beef and chicken dishes and i've been trying pork & seafood.
Maybe we need to start a recipe thread here......Camaro influenced, of course. Maybe "Dizzy Whiz" cheese dip.....ok, i'm reachin'

The kids won’t eat my cooking

so my wife cooks and I wash the dishes.

Here is a dishwashing tip :D

If you wetsand the inside of that crockpot with 400 grit sandpaper it will remove the burned on crud and make it look like new!

The dishwasher also makes an excellent parts washer (only try this when the wife is not home).

LOL @ venison...we call it "deer meat" down here, click :p That stew DOES look pretty good though, except for the celery :noway: Id probably been a chef cuz I love to cook and can even be creative at times. However, I only enjoy cooking when Im hungry, so Id probably only be willing to work a couple of hours a day :D

My girlfriend's parents came over on the weekend so I made grilled swordfish, and grilled butterflied shrimp for lunch, and for dinner flank steaks, chicken souvlaki skewers, and halibut/salmon kabobs (fishkabobs?). They're Portugese, so I figured we should have some seafood with each meal. It was quite good, but I can't take credit for much of it, basically I just put it on the barbecue and flipped it occasionally. Each meal was accompanied by various salads, but I didn't have much to do with that either, other than eating them.

I get experamental in the kitchen and was being lazy so I used the oven to cook chicken breasts. Usually I season them up and add a little water to help keep it moist. Well last night I used lemon juice instead... damn it was good.

#1 I'm not wild about chicken
#2 I get tired of the same ol, same ol. (never tire of steaks though :D )

I love to cook! I mean LOVE to cook! My family had a resturaunt for 30+ years. Greek, American, & Italian food. I worked my way through most of high school there, bus boy, waiter, breakfast shift cook, you name it. My girlfriend bought me a Kitchen Aid Artisan Mixer & Pro Waffle Maker for my Bday. That mixer is the shizzy! I made my 1st New York Style Cheesecake & Apple Pie recently. The cheesecake came out great, apple pie was just okay. I'm cooking for my family tomorrow. I'm gonna do BBQ Chicken w/ a Balsamic BBQ sauce or Chicken Souvlaki, haven't descided yet.
